"Yakushiji Jionden Dedicated shohekiga Exhibition" is being held at the gallery on the 7th floor of the new building at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store.
As you know, Yakushi-ji Temple is the Daihonzan of the Hoso sect where Nara Nishinokyo is located, and ancient temple is one of the seven major temples in Nanto.
In 1998, it was registered in World Heritage by UNESCO as part of the cultural property of the ancientmain deity Nara.
Jionden was founded in the Edo period and was relocated to the current Xuangzang Sanzoin temple complex in 1988.
Gohei Hosokawa (former Prime Minister) will dedicate a total of 66 shohekigas (108 pieces) to Jionden, and 23 (37 pieces) on the north side will be exhibited prior to completion in 2019.
At the same time, some precious temple treasures such as "Shoka" dedicated to Yakushi-ji Temple and seated statue of Jion Daishi are also on display.
The scattered flower is a vetch-shaped piece of paper scattered around the Buddhist memorial service, and the scattered flowers on display are Ikuo Hirayama, Kaii Higashiyama, Yuki Ogura, Ryohei Koiso, Shoko Uemura, Tokushi Okumura, Morikazu Kumagai, Kazumasa Nakagawa, Junsaku Koizumi, Tamako Kataoka, and Matazo Kayama.
It was interesting to see the artist's individuality in how to use the extremely limited space of scattered flowers.
Also, Mr. Hosokawa's shohekiga was very impressive in yellow. It will be waiting for completion.
The holding time is from 10:30 to 19:00, and the holding period is until February 6 (Monday).
