Hello. This is a new correspondent, Hanes.
I went to the "Chuo-ku Snow Festival" held at Akatsuki Park on Sunday, February 10 and 11 (Mon / holiday). .
Since it is held every other year, it is my first snow festival since I moved to Chuo-ku....
I've been looking forward to it since the end of last year!



On the 9th (Saturday), the day before the event, it was very cold, and although it was hardly piled up, snow fell.
Meanwhile, the amount of snow delivered from Higashine City is equivalent to 20 trucks!
In Tokyo, the amount of snow that you don't see first increases the tension even for adults.
This time, I would like to tell you about such a snow festival.

■Snow play corner
Here we slide the snow slope with sleds.
I was able to play with the snow while I was in Tokyo.
For children in Tokyo who don't usually see so much snow,
I guess it was a great excitement.



Like sleds, there was a long line of miniskies.
Ski boards and stock for children can be borrowed from Chuo-ku.
You can enjoy skiing easily.



In addition, parents and children make snowmen, etc.
I saw him enjoying playing with the snow as he wished.



■Mini zoo
You can ride ponies, ducks, chickens, etc.
Cute small animals such as rabbits were also coming to play.



■Song Corner, Opening Ceremony
In the song corner, which was held twice a day, the song was held.
Including Panda Rabbit koala, which children can enjoy together.
Various songs are performed, and there are many smiling children around the stage.

And on the 10th, the opening ceremony was held from 11:30.
I missed the timing for a moment.
I was able to meet the mayor of Chuo and the local character of Higashine City, the king of the fruit tree kingdom, Tanto-kun.



■Higashine-shi PR corner
In a corner of Akatsuki Park, special products of Higashine City were sold.
Among them, many of them were Keio Sakura.
It is a cherry blossom that blooms in winter and is a representative cherry tree in Yamagata Prefecture that delivers spring a little earlier (how, the shipment volume is the highest in Japan).



There are also juices, fruit wines, sweets, etc. made from fruits from Yamagata.
Lotteries that can be participated if purchased over a certain amount of money were also exciting.

Meanwhile, I purchased "Keyaki-yaki" from Shosendo, famous for "Kotobuki Matsu" in Yamagata famous confectionery.
What is the reason?...Chuo-ku and Higashine-shi also have exchanges through keyaki.

I think that it is only the exchange between cherries and willows, and in the ward administration yearbook,
On February 11, 2007, it is recorded that the "15th anniversary of the Chuo-ku-Higashine-shi friendship city tie-up" was held.



It is the most important taste, but it has a modest sweetness, and the flavor of the dough is very good.
In addition to green soybeans, white hide beans are added to Zudaan.
I think it was more like "an"!

And some of the visitors knew for the first time that this snow festival was used as an opportunity.
Once again, I felt that such cultural exchange was meaningful.

■Sales of recycled bicycles
Recycled bicycles were sold on the morning of the 10th, saying, "Treasure limited resources."
Those who wish to purchase must put the prescribed application form in the envelope attached to the desired bicycle by 11:30.
The lottery will start from 12:00.

This time, about 20 units, which were dominated by the city cycle, were sold.
The appeal of this project is that it costs 6,000 yen per bicycle including the security registration fee (* cash payment is required on the spot).



The applicants were slightly different from 2 to 30 people for each bicycle, but many people participated in the lottery.
Recycled bicycles are all clean and well maintained.
Isn't it a great opportunity for those who are considering purchasing a bicycle?

This tent will be the Kyobashi fire brigade PR corner on the 11th the following day.
It seems that they have distributed leaflets.

■Taste corner
Here you can find regional cuisine, Gomoku rice, fried rice soup, taiyaki, oshiruko, hot Calpis, and so on.
Food and drinks that can be enjoyed by adults and children were distributed, and it was very busy.



When I visited Higashine at the beginning of the year, I lost eating local cuisine like regional cuisine.
I also had potato broth, tamakonjac, and taiyaki.



The taste of pork is very effective in the potato broth.
Some of them commented, "Sukiyaki-like!"
The tamakonjac, which was moderately elastic and tasted, was also delicious.

■Yeah
The Chuo-ku Snow Festival, which was participated for the first time this time, was a unique winter event with various projects and corners.
There is a feeling of being for children, but it can be enjoyed regardless of men and women of all ages.
I guess it's not the only one who felt wasteful at every other year.

And it was surprisingly crowded with so many families, saying, "There were so many children in Chuo-ku!"
In Chuo-ku, there are many valuable opportunities for children to enjoy, including Kabuki and traditional festivals.

I feel like I was able to understand more that "Chuo-ku is easy to raise children"

I was able to know the charm of the friendship city, Higashine City through snow, gourmet, special products, etc.
There was also information newly obtained, and I wanted to visit again soon.

 

 

At the special gallery space of Time Dome Akashi (Chuo Ward Local Tenmonkan) in Akashicho, a special exhibition "Sake and Archaeological Sites-From Relics Excavated in Chuo-ku" is currently being held.

The location is the 6th floor of a complex such as the Chuo-ku Public Health Center 12-1 Akashicho.

This is the building (red place) facing St. Luke Street on the map above.

In this exhibition, relics related to "sake" excavated from archeological sites from the Edo period in the city are displayed.

Many relics actually used by people of the Edo period are on display.

First of all, I am surprised by the good preservation of these exhibits.

Also, depending on the roles of "sake and carry", "warm", "tsugu", and "drink", people at the time devised and created by the people at that time, It has hardly changed, and I am surprised at that.

At the venue, not only relics, but also pictorial drawings depicting people of the Edo period drinking and making fun were also exhibited, and it was interesting to feel something that did not change at that time.

The event will be held from Saturday, February 9 to March 24 (Sun).

Time is from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

The museum is closed every Monday, and is open if Monday is a public holiday, and the following weekday will be closed.

Continuing from the last time, I would like to focus on Chuo-ku that Sidmore saw!

■Impression of Edo (p. 75)
This section describes the scenery of Tokyo, where the remnants of Edo remain.
The frank and honest impression from overseas people at that time is spelled out.

From today's point of view, Japan's unique Historic buildings is located a little far from behind alleys and main streets.
I think it's an attractive place that can be called a "secluded gem" known to those who know it.
In addition, there may be wonderful scenery "I couldn't see it unless I got lost."
It can be said that such unexpected excavations are the real pleasure of walking around the town.

Sidmore's comment introduced this time is what modern tourists visiting Japan are looking for from Japan.
And I feel that it leads to what Japanese people who travel abroad are looking for.

It's a good idea to go around the sights of the royal road listed in the guidebook.
The popularity of traditional culture experience tours and "traveling like living" type trips is also increasing.
Also, rather than buying beautifully packaged souvenirs at shops like "The Souvenir Shop"
People have come to hear from locals that they want to buy something that has a reputation.
In that sense, it is necessary to consider what tourists visiting Japan are looking for.Sidmore's comments may be helpful.

"Sidmore Japan Journey" also describes the state of the army and Tsukiji foreign settlements at that time.
There is a record from the perspective of overseas people.
I'm sorry that there is no collection in the Chuo City Library, but it's a book worth reading.

After the Meiji Restoration, modern literature was nurtured in our Chuo-ku. Newspapers were born one after another in Ginza Brick Street, and the information industry was developed. In addition, many cultural figures visited Chuo-ku and drew scenes of Chuo-ku in various works such as novels and plays.

Today, I examined literary people who are closely related to Chuo-ku.

Kitamura Tokoku (Kitamura)

Meiji 1st year-Meiji 27 (1868-1894)

Literary critic and poet. Born in Odawara. In 1880 (1880), he moved to Tokyo Yazaemon-cho, Kyobashi-ku (currently Ginza 4-chome, Chuo-ku). Transferred to Yasuaki Elementary School. He is involved in the liberal rights movement set in Ginza. 1889 (1889) Announced "Shu Prison's Poet" and "Renna Song". Participated in the creation of the "Literature World" and presented numerous criticisms such as "Internal Life Theory".

Toson Shimazaki (Shimazaki)

Meiji 5-Showa 18 (1872-1943)

Poet and novelist. Born in the house of Shoya in Nagano Prefecture. In 1881 (1881), he moved to Yariya-cho, Kyobashi-ku (currently Ginza 4-chome, Chuo-ku). He studied at Yasuaki Elementary School and graduated from Meiji Gakuin. Through the activities of the literary world, he learned Kitamura Toya and was deeply influenced. From 1907 (1907) to the following year, "Spring" was written at Kaikaikan (currently Tsukuda 3-chome, Chuo-ku), and his representative work "Before Dawn" was performed at Tsukiji Small Theater.

Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Ryunosuke

Meiji 25-Showa 2 (1892-1927)

Noveler. Born in a milk ranch in 8-chome, Irifune-cho, Kyobashi-ku (currently Akashi-cho, Chuo-ku). Soon after birth, he moved to his mother's home in Honjo Ward. Graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. Entered the gate of Soseki Natsume and became a doujin of the third and fourth "Shinshicho". Representative works include "Rashomon", "Nas", "Hell thread", "Kappa".

Torahiko Koori (Koori Torahiko)

Meiji 23-Daisho 13 (1890-1924)

Playwright. Born in Minami Hatchobori 3-chome, Kyobashi-ku (currently Minato 1-chome, Chuo-ku). He entered the English Department of Tokyo Imperial University from Gakushuin. "Shirakaba." In 1913 (1913), "Dojo-ji Temple" will be performed at Jiyu Theater. He traveled to Europe and wrote "Tetsuwa" and "Yoshichoki". It was performed in London and gained popularity.

Bosha Kawabata (Kawabata)

Meiji 30-Showa 16 (1897-1941)

A poet. Born in 2-chome Kakigaracho, Nihonbashi-ku (currently Nihonbashi Ningyocho 2-chome, Chuo-ku). He became a painter and studied under Ryusei Kishida. Because of his illness, he devoted himself to Haiku and studied under Kyoshi Takahama. "grayheaded cuckoo," he said. There are "Bosha Kawabata Kushu", "Kagon" and "Shirachi" in the haiku collection.

Kayo Yamagishi (Kayo Yamagishi)

Meiji 9-Showa 20 (1876-1945)

Noveler. Born in Aburamachi, Nihonbashi-ku (currently Nihonbashiodenmacho). He went to Tokyo College of Technology (the predecessor of Waseda University) and studied under Shoyo Tsubouchi. Later he entered the gate of Koyo Ozaki. "Ikuriyusha" is the same person. Announced "Nihonbashi Literature" based on the townscape where he was born and raised, such as wholesale district and geisha district. "The beginning of service", "the temperament of this life", etc. Later, he worked for the Yomiuri Shimbun as a commentator.

Shigure Hasegawa (Shigure Hasegawa)

Meiji 12-Showa 16 (1879-1941)

Kabuki screenwriter, legendary writer, novelist, essayist. Born in Aburamachi, Nihonbashi-ku (currently Nihonbashiodenmacho). Debuted in 1905 (1905) with "Umishione". He builds his position in the biography of women. In 1933 (1933), he published the magazine "Keiku" and sent many female writers and critics to the world. In his essay, "Old Mon Nihonbashi" is a masterpiece.

Kanajo Hasegawa (Hasegawa)

Meiji 19-Showa 44 (1887-1969)

A poet. Born in Honishi-cho, Nihonbashi-ku (currently Nihonbashi 2-chome). Supports the magazine "Kareno" presided over by her husband, Kaizo Tomita (Reiyoshi Hasegawa). He studied under Kyoshi Takahama. In 1930 (1930), he launched "Suimei" and became a pioneer of female poets. The phrasebook includes "Ametsuki" and "Lake Flute", and the essays include "Koyuki" and "Yukiki".

Junichirou Tanizaki (Tanizaki)

Meiji 19-Showa 40 (1886-1965)

Born in Kakigara-cho, Nihonbashi-ku (currently Nihonbashi Ningyocho 1-chome, Chuo-ku). He studied at Sakamoto Elementary School. Representative works such as "tattoo", "love of chijin", and "Shunkinsho", which are considered to be aesthetics. He also published naturalist literature and modern translations of The Tale of Genji. "Hosoyuki" published after the war is considered to be the ultimate in Tanizaki literature.

Michizo Tachihara (Michizo Tachihara)

Taisho 3-Showa 14 (1914-1939)

A poet. Architect. Born in 3-chome, Tachibanacho, Nihonbashi-ku (currently Nihonbashi Hisamatsucho, Chuo-ku). He studied at Hisamatsu Elementary School and graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo Imperial University. I liked tanka poetry since I was a teenager and was influenced by Tatsuo Hori. Participated in the first publication of the poetry magazine "Shiki". Announced a collection of poems "Some by Kayakusa" and "Poetry of dawn and evening". Received the 1st Chuya Nakahara Award.


He was born and raised in Chuo-ku and represents the times.

It was interesting to note that literary activities that pioneered the times were unfolded here in Chuo-ku, as well as that each literary person was connected in Chuo-ku.

In addition, many works were born in Chuo-ku, and the appearance of the town at that time is alive in the story, and conveys the scene now. It remains in many films, not only in novels and plays, but also in films.

There may be typical things such as the eight night views of Chuo-ku and the scenery from Harumi Wharf.

However, even if it is not very famous as a night view, Chuo-ku makes you want to take pictures.
There are a lot of spots that are fascinated by the radiance of the night.
Among them, this time, I would like to introduce 4 spots that I recently photographed.

[Building]
■PLUSTOKYO
"Adult social space" opened brilliantly on the 12th floor/RF of Kirarito Ginza in November last year.
Globally popular DJs such as STEVE AOKI and R3HAB also perform performances.
It is a hot spot that will also create a nighttime economy for Tokyo 2020.



DJs may have a strong image of a club, but they may have a strong image of a club.
PLUSTOKYO also has restaurants, bars, and galleries.
It can be enjoyed for various purposes day and night, such as providing a slightly luxurious branch.

I've never been there yet, but this floor, which is eye-catching on Chuo-dori, is on the street.
As you can see in the photo, it definitely shows the radiance unique to the night.

■Park City Chuo Minato The Tower (completed in November 2017, 36 stories above ground)
In recent years, the redevelopment of Minato has progressed, and the number of tower apartments is increasing.
Among them, one of the most eye-catching rooftops is the unique shape of this roof.
When I looked into it, I found that there was a sky garden here.
Because there are no tall buildings around, it seems that the space is very open.



From here, I would like to see the night view of Chuo-ku once.

[Bridge]
■Takahashi
Among the bridges over the Kamejima River, there are bridges that are beautifully lit up at night.



The bridge lit up in blue is also a highlight, but please pay attention to the river surface.
Despite the fact that there are many buildings that are not illuminated.
The scenery reflected in the river is a fantastic blue and white scenery reminiscent of an "underground empire"....
I can just imagine it.



■Minami Takahashi
Among the bridges in Chuo-ku, design is one of my favorite bridges.
If a part of the bridge is used as a subject, it will be finished as if it were taken at night overseas.



There are many places in Chuo-ku where you can see beautiful night views, and such places are already well known, but they are still well known.
Just a little change in your eyes and perspectives, apart from them, you will find a wonderful place that shines at night.
Why don't you look for a "My Night View Spot" that is not listed in the guidebook when you leave work or go sightseeing at night?
