In the autumn of fruit, the bright red fruit of Piracanta [Akatsuki Park]

[Dimini ☆ Cricket] October 24, 2018 09:00

Akatsuki Park is a spacious park located in Tsukiji 7-chome.

pyraca201801.JPG

The park is divided into an "adventure plaza" and a "health center side", and the "adventure plaza" has tire playground equipment and Tarzan ropes so that children can play.

In the "health center side", plazas, water stations, fountains, etc. are installed in addition to playground equipment.

pyraca201802.JPG

A lot of trees were planted, one of which was reddish, and when I approached, Piracantha was full of bright red fruits.

pyraca201803.JPG

Pillakansa is an evergreen shrub of the family Rosaceae, native to West Asia, and is cultivated as hedges and potted plants.

pyraca201804.JPG

A lot of bright red fruits are added in autumn.

pyraca201805.jpg

Piracantha is said to be the "thorn of flame" in Greek, and is this naming because there are countless spines on red fruits and branches?

There are many plants that produce red fruits in autumn, but the only thing that is so bright red and has a large number of fruits is this pyracanta.

It feels like a fruitful autumn.

"The Beginning of Western Medicine in Chuo-ku" [Time Dome Akashi]

[Dimini ☆ Cricket] October 22, 2018 14:00

On the 6th floor of a complex such as the Chuo-ku Public Health Center in Akashicho, the 19th special exhibition Tokyo 150th Anniversary Western Medicine Opening in Chuo-ku" is being held at Time Dome Akashi, a local Tenmonkan in Chuo-ku.

seiyo201804.JPG

The event will be held from Saturday, October 20 to December 16 (Sun).

From Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum is closed every Monday.

seiyo201805.JPG

Looking at the exhibits at the venue, through Edo, late Tokugawa shogunate, and Meiji, I feel that Chuo-ku was truly a base for Western medicine.

seiyo201806.JPG

During the Edo period, in Nihonbashi Honishicho 3-chome (now Nihonbashi Muromachi 4-chome), there was Nagasakiya where Mayor Dutch trading post stayed. During his stay, many people visited and exchanged information, and in Japan under the policy of isolation, this was one of the few places of exchange with Western civilization (Western medicine).

The photo below shows the explanation board of the Nagasakiya site at 4-chome Nihonbashi Muromachi.

seiyo201801.JPG

At Akatsuki Park at Tsukiji 7-chome, there is a statue of Siebold, who has been staying in Nagasakiya with the director of the trading house.

seiyo201803.JPG

The relationship between Siebold and Chuo-ku is that it was Tsukiji that his daughter, Rice, opened the maternity hospital.

This special exhibition also introduces Siebold and Siebold's daughter, Rice Kusumoto.

seiyo201808.JPG

In Chuo-ku, there is also a "Dismantling Shinsho Monument", which is due to the translation of the "Dismantling Shinsho" by Ryotaku Maeno, a feudal physician at the Nakatsu clan's Nakayashiki in Tsukiji.

seiyo201810.JPG

Hoshu Katsuragawa is one of the people who had always talked with Choichi Dutch trading post, who came to Edo.

The Katsuragawa family, a Dutch physician, has been a master of the Shogunate for generations since the first served the sixth shogun Ienobu Tokugawa.

Hoshu is the fourth generation, and the site of the mansion is located at Tsukiji 1-chome.

seiyo201802.JPG

Hoshu studied Dutch studies with Genpaku Sugita and Ryotaku Maeno and others, and participated in the translation business of "Dismantling Shinsho" at a young age.

seiyo201809.JPG

From the end of the Tokugawa period to the Meiji era, Chuo-ku was exactly the base of Western medicine due to the rise of Dutch studies and the influx of Western medicine to the Tsukiji settlement.

seiyo201811.JPG

In this year's special exhibition, there are many materials on display to understand such "The Beginning of Western Medicine in Chuo-ku".

seiyo201813.JPG

A special lecture will be held on October 27 (Saturday).

Lecturer is Tetsunori Iwashita, Professor of Toyo University.

The theme is "Western Study in late Tokugawa shogunate and Meiji and Tsukiji Katsuragawa Family, Fukuzawa Juku, Ginka Kishida".

The time is from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

seiyo201814.JPG

In addition, we received your consent for photography and coverage at the venue.

The day when the electric light was ignited in Ginza

[Dimini ☆ Cricket] October 21, 2018 12:00

It is said that "the weather of getting close to the lights" means that autumn nights are cool and long, so it is suitable for reading under the lights. There is a trace of history at the intersection of Ginza 2-chome that reminds me that it has not been around for a long time.

denkit201801.JPG

At the corner of the Ginza 2-chome intersection, the wall of the cartier building (Ginza Marronnier Street side) is fitted with a plate of the electric light pillar monument.

denkit201802.JPG

In 1882, arc lamps were lit for the first time in Japan, replacing conventional gas lamps and lamps.

At the monument, the plate depicts a lot of people gathering and looking up on the bright light. It seems that many people were surprised at the brightness.

denkit201804.JPG

In addition, on the Chuo-dori side in front of the Cartier Building at this intersection, the Ginza Memorial Light was built on October 1, 1956 by the hands of related parties to commemorate "Japan's first electric streetlight construction site". Was

denkit201805.JPG

After that, this commemorative light has been rebuilt several times, and the current one has been restored in September of last year.

Thanks for the efforts of our predecessors, let's work on reading and reading.

There was a women's volleyball team fighting in the V2 league in Nihonbashi!

[Dimini ☆ Cricket] October 20, 2018 18:00

Did you know that there is a women's volleyball team in Nihonbashi that belongs to the V2 league and fights?

sunbeam201804.jpg

I was surprised to learn about it for the first time.

In addition, we asked about the background at the time of the team's founding, the path to this day, the current activities rooted in Chuo-ku, etc., and we would like to have everyone know and support it throughout Chuo-ku. I will introduce you.

sunbeam201803.JPG

"GSS Tokyo Sunbeams" is a women's volleyball team based in Chuo-ku.

As of October 2018, I belong to the V2 League.

Green Support Systems Co., Ltd. (Headquarters; 1-8-7, Nihonbashi Muromachi), a temporary staffing company.

This time, we spoke with President Fueki of the company (also the director of the team) and Mr. Okano of the Business Promotion Office.

sunbeam201806.JPG

Founded in March 2004, several experienced volleyball joined the company, and the desire to "start volleyball" was triggered. In 2008, he was promoted to the V Challenge League as early as possible.

The team name "Sunbeams" is said to have been named as a team color that does not always lose bright and shine like the sun and a fast attack like sunlight, and the team character is "Sunbeams-kun".

sunbeam201805.jpg

The cap on the head represents the green of the golf course, indicating that the business originated from dispatching human resources to the golf course.

He usually practices after renting elementary and junior high schools in Chuo-ku and the gymnasium of the athlete's university, and after working hours after regular work.

In addition, this team conducts on-site volleyball classes, and offers classes for children at Ginza Junior High School and Nihonbashi Junior High School in Chuo-ku.

sunbeams001.jpg

The opening game of GSS Tokyo Sunbeams will be held on Saturday, November 10 next month at Sunbeams' home game at the general sports center in Hamacho Park.

My opponent is Victorina Himeji.

GSS Tokyo Sunbeams is a team whose home town is Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku.

There is also a fan club (see the website for details).

Let's support all the central residents

The logos and photos of the team used in this blog were specially approved by GSS.

Beautiful! Aya Ki Exhibition [Gallery Yaesu, Tokyo]

[Dimini ☆ Cricket] October 17, 2018 12:00

mokusai201801.JPG

At the gallery "Gallery Yaesu Tokyo", located in Yaesu Underground Shopping Center, Yaesu 2-chome 1, Yaesu Underground Shopping Center No. 1, Yaesu Underground Shopping Center, a wooden Aya painting exhibition by artist Kazumi Miyakawa is being held.

mokusai201802.JPG

The period is from Monday, October 15 to 21 (Sun).

mokusai201803.JPG

"Ki-Aya painting" is a painting created by Mr. Miyagawa's own name, using the technique of "inlaying" made by cutting a thin wooden board (approximately 0.6 mm thick) and inlaying it.

mokusai201804.JPG

I remember seeing "Ki-Aya Painting" for the first time at Miyagawa's exhibition held at this gallery Yaesu in 2015, and I was impressed by its preciseness and beauty.

mokusai201805.JPG

At that time, the tree itself was not colored at all, and I heard from the person that it was completed as a single work by utilizing the natural color, grain, and wood surface of each tree. I was surprised.

mokusai201806.JPG

This time again, works that make use of the characteristics and beauty of the material itself are on display.

mokusai201807.JPG

(Shinagawa Month)

In addition to the certainty of technology, the unique calm atmosphere of the material being natural is overflowing throughout the gallery where the work is exhibited.

mokusai201808.JPG

(Snow in Fukagawa)

At this exhibition, Utamaro trilogy "Snow, Moon, Flowers (Snow of Fukagawa, Tsuki of Shinagawa, Flowers of Yoshiwara)" is also on display.

After this exhibition, this trilogy will be stored and displayed at the Shimizu Minenzaka Art Museum in Sannenzaka in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, and this is the last one that you can appreciate this trilogy in Tokyo.

mokusai201809.JPG

(Flower of Yoshiwara)

The event will be held until this weekend, so please drop in early.

In addition, we received special consent for the photography in the gallery, and we were able to talk to Mr. Miyagawa who was at the venue.

Thank you very much
