Rediscover the charm of Japanese tea! @ The 72nd National Tea Festival (1)

[Hanes] December 21, 2018 12:00

Hello. This is a new correspondent, Hanes.
The other day, I went to the 72nd National Tea Festival (Tea Festival) held in Nihonbashi!
This event has been held in the tea production area until now, and we are aiming for Tokyo 2020.
I want overseas people to know the goodness of Japanese tea.
This event was held in Tokyo, a big city.

Tea festival. jpg

In this event, we will introduce Japanese tea, tasting and tasting, hand fir experience, and brewing experience.
Panel discussion, food education seminar, keynote speech, collaboration session holding,
There are a variety of product sales corners by exhibiting organizations
There were a variety of teas in the venue, and the first thing I went to was....

Tea festival 2.jpg

■Hand fir tea experience corner (Ibaraki Prefectural Sashima Tea Hand Massage Preservation Society)
At first I saw it from a distance, but I had you call out and experienced hand fir tea.
The tea leaves still contain a lot of water, so we want to remove the water.
I swayed on the drying table
What I actually experienced and felt was that the good scent of tea smells softly when shaken!
It is fresher and more fragrant than tea as a drink.
I'm glad that my hands are smooth!

Tea festival 3.jpg

According to the story, it will take at least 5 hours before it becomes tea.
It's a story that seems to be far away, but delicious tea takes a certain amount of time and effort!
After swaying, rotate fir is performed, and then dried through various fir methods.

IMG_3535.JPG

Sarushima tea was not only transported to Edo using the water transport of the Tone River and was highly evaluated.
It is also famous in history as tea exported overseas for the first time in Japan.
It is a tea that cannot be overlooked for me who is born in Ibaraki Prefecture and loves history.

■Uji City Agriculture, Forestry and Tea Industry Division, Kyoto Prefectural Tea Industry Chamber
Next, I went to a booth in Uji City, which is famous for matcha.
Here, Tentama, a blend of Tencha and Gyokuro, which are the raw materials of matcha, was introduced.
Unlike sencha and bancha, Tencha and Gyokuro are different from sencha and Bancha, and it seems that the taste of tea leaves is condensed by cultivation in blocking sunlight.
It was the first tea I heard, but the flavor was completely different from the light green tea.

IMG_3540.JPG

Next door, I was able to teach me how to make matcha and taste it.

Thumbnail image of IMG_3546.JPG

■Shizuoka Tea Promotion Division
At this booth, you will receive a tea can through an SNS-linked campaign at the Fujinokuni Tea City Museum.
I learned that the World Tea Festival will be held in Shizuoka Prefecture in May and November next year.

IMG_3547.JPG

In addition, the tea plantation farming method in Shizuoka, which is a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, is not only a method for producing high-quality tea.
I learned that it is an environmentally friendly traditional farming method that fosters biodiversity and is also effective in mitigating global warming.
A certified sticker for this farming method is affixed to the package of Kakegawa tea purchased before.
I vaguely had the image of "tea produced with particular focus on traditional farming".
By knowing that it was an effort on a much larger scale than that.
It was an opportunity to review the splendor of this farming method, which has been inherited in Shizuoka.

■Kumamoto Prefectural Economic Federation Tea Production and Distribution Council, Minamikyushu City Tea Distribution Measures Council
Minamikyushu City on the left side (the southernmost tip of Japan's mainland!) At the booth
We tasted Chiran tea, which boasts the largest production volume in Japan.

IMG_3548_.jpg

There seem to be many varieties of Chiran tea, but it was easy to drink because of the seaside.
Just by tasting several kinds of tea so far, the astringency, sweetfish, fragrance, etc. are clearly different, respectively.
I was aware of the many types of Japanese tea that are often forgotten in the present age when PET bottle tea became established.

As in Japan, U.K. (Tea) is a country famous for its tea culture.
There are few black teas in plastic bottles in supermarkets in the UK.
(I've only seen lipton flavor tea.)
At home, tea is brewed and drunk with tea leaves or tea bags, and on the go, the tea is brewed in the same way in a tea room or mobile sales car.
Now that Japanese food has become a global boom, we have once again confirmed the goodness of Japanese tea (of tea leaves) and confirmed the importance of Japanese tea.
It would be nice if we could communicate the appeal to overseas people.

・・The roots are in China, and the petals are in France.

Added the painter's representative motif "Lotus" and the "sea" expressed in blue.

More than 30 new works expressing the object as you can see were exhibited.

The work expressed in ink and oil paintings makes you feel the world of Yugen.

I completely forgot the hustle and bustle of Ginza and was fascinated by the peaceful world.

What is the winter solstice? What do you eat?

[Silver] December 20, 2018 18:00

The winter solstice in 2018 is December 22nd.

During the winter solstice, I entered Yuzuyu and eat pumpkins. When I was young, my mother said, "I eat soba because the sun is short," and let me eat Kenchin soba.

By the way, did you know that the winter solstice is the day of "Hampon"? There was a guide on the poster of the Tokyo Kamaboko Fisheries Processing Cooperative.

1544867665632.jpg

Hampin is famous for its hamppen made from Yoshikiri shark of Shigeru Kami, but in Tsukiji and Tsukishima, the products of Ajino Hamato are also popular. It is said that it is good to eat seven foods called "ononon", but my favorite foods are bean paste, agar, kankankan, kinton, lotus root (Renkon) , The outlook is good.) There is something like this. If you give another one, it's a perfect score. "Ninben" is famous in the food shop. Let's go to the delicious "danken"!

Warm pots and oden are best for the cold body. (The name of another food is shown in the photo.)

The beautiful night of Ryukan Sakura Bridge, which connects Otemachi and Nihonbashi.

[Shiba Inu] December 20, 2018 14:00

This spring, a large pedestrian-only bridge connecting Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku and Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, was newly built. The name is "Ryukan Sakura Bridge". The location is between Shin-Tokiwa Bridge and Kamakura Bridge, just a short walk to the main building of the Bank of Japan.

I wish there was a bridge that quickly connects Otemachi to Nihonbashi....That was a common thought of people who work and live in this area, but finally! It was completed over a period of two and a half years.

In the early Edo period, there was a digging called Ryukagawa, which was made for fire prevention measures. The Ryukan River was also an indispensable part of water transportation, with a bypass scheme that runs from the Nihonbashi River to the Hamacho River and Sumida River. After reclaiming and re-digging, it was reclaimed for debris disposal after the war and completely disappeared.

Even today, traces of the Ryukan River can be seen. There are also parks and places that are named Ryukan. For this reason, the name of this "Ryukan Sakura Bridge" was decided by open call for participants.

This place, where the JR viaduct and the Metropolitan Taka Yaesu Line overlap, is very difficult to construct, and many latest technologies were used when starting construction. As a result! It became a Miracle bridge where you can see the mysterious sight of the old and new Nihonbashi River below, the vehicles passing through the entrances and viaducts of the Metropolitan Expressway, the pre-war makeup brick arch Ryukagawagishi Bridge Takahashi Bridge, and of course.

And at night, the sense of different worlds appears.

990DAE8F-9809-45C0-844C-B400612B85AF.jpg

Because it is a business district, people are sparse at night, you can only hear the sound of the river and the sound of the train in your ears, and you can feel the liveliness of nearby Nihonbashi and Ginza, and you can touch the foundation of a dynamic city of Tokyo.

By the way, Ryukan Sakura Bridge does not have any special lights or events during Christmas or New Year holidays. I'm sorry!

The light-up near Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, which is nearby, has somehow a magical color.

CA4709DD-E43C-416F-B18D-8A5EE074B03A.jpg

If you like a world view that mixes the near future Tokyo and the mysterious prewar Tokyo, why not take a stroll through the "Ryukan Sakura Bridge-Nihonbashi" area in winter? It has a deeper depth that is different from the beautiful Ginza and the gorgeous summer.
