According to the "First Time Story Map" issued by the Chuo-ku Tourism Association, Nihonbashi Benmatsu Sohonten is introduced as "the shop of the Orizume cuisine specialty store".

Click here for the last time.

/archive/2019/02/post-6111.html

This time, I would like to introduce the history of Benmatsu.

This time, we also took care of Junichi Higuchi, the eighth generation of Nihonbashi Benmatsu Sohonten.

I took a picture in front of the store with the image at the top, half-wearing.

Then...

From the opening of a restaurant Higuchiya to Benmatsu, a specialty of lunch box sales.

As you all know, from the opening of Edo to the Great Kanto Earthquake, there was a fish shore in Nihonbashi.

In the 7th year of culture (1810), Yoichi Higuchi, born in Echigo, opened a restaurant called Higuchiya on the Nihonbashi Fish Bank.

This is the beginning of "Benmatsu".

Higuchiya was reputed for his good cooking and seemed to be very prosperous.

But the people on the shores of the fish are so silly that they are too busy to have their own time.

Even if you have a meal, you may have to stand up before you finish eating everything.

So Yoichi recommended that the remaining dishes be wrapped in a sutra tree (thin wooden board: in this case wooden fold) or bamboo skin and taken home.

This attentive became even more popular, and the number of customers wishing to take home has increased.

This is the root of Benmatsu's folded lunch box.

IMG_20190130_110445 (2)a.jpgAnd in the days of Takejiro, the second generation, he began selling lunch boxes wrapped in bamboo skin from the beginning.

In addition, Mr. Matsujiro, the third generation, changed from a restaurant to a specialty restaurant. This is said to be the first specialty store in Japan to sell lunch boxes.

At this time, the name of the shop was reduced by "Matsujiro of the lunch shop" and became "Benmatsu".

Therefore, Mr. Benmatsu is also published in the "Chuo-ku First Story Map" issued by the Chuo-ku Tourism Association as "the shop of the Orizume Cooking Specialty Shop".

Benmatsu-san's dish arranged by Tsugumichi Saigo

Toshimichi Okubo: Former Order of the Meiji Restoration, the first Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications.

Together with Saigo Takamori and Takayoshi Kido, they are called "the Three Greats of the Restoration."

Toshimichi Okubo was assassinated on May 14, 1878 (1878).

This is "Kioi-zaka's strangeness."

Earlier, he lost and died in Saigo Takamori and Satsuma Rebellion, who were defeated in conflict over the conquest of South Korea.

The ally, Okubo, who had already been separated, was defeated by this strange by the complainants in the aftermath.

Tsugumichi Saigo, who longed for Okubo and stayed in the government without following his brother Takamori Saigo, would have been shocked many times. But it was really cool and thin.

After hearing about this incident, Tsugumichi Saigo prepared and delivered a large box of dishes to the residence in Okubo.

This is Mr. Benmatsu's dish, for 150 people. For those who have gathered in the incident.

Speaking of the dishes and lunch boxes to deliver, Mr. Benmatsu would have been.

"Dark Yui" taste passed down from the Meiji era to the present day

Sweet, spicy and dark seasoning. This is the taste of Benmatsu-san that has been handed down.

At first, it may have been a means of aiming for high calories for physical workers working on the fish shore in Nihonbashi.

And because of the nature of a lunch box, it can be considered to have a long life.

However, the lunch box, which used plenty of sugar, which was expensive at the time, seems to have been accepted not by finding it but by the high society layer.

The folding of the trees has been continued to date.

IMG_20190130_115339_3 (2)a.jpg

The upper part of the image is Benmatsu's advertisement. It was from 1896.

The shape has changed a little, but the lunch box from the Meiji era, the taste of Edo before that, and it is still handed down to Benmatsu-san.

IMG_20190130_105719_1 (2)a.jpg IMG_20190130_120026_1 (2)a.jpg

After entering Mr. Benmatsu's shop, there is a wooden signboard and noren on the front.

President Higuchi said he did not hear that the signboard was probably after the war and that he escaped the raid with it. It's the eighth generation of Benmatsu.

IMG_20190130_105617 (2)a.jpg IMG_20190130_105631 (2)a.jpg

 Ainosuke Kataoka, the sixth generation

On the right side of the store, the signature of Kabuki actor Ainosuke Kataoka, and a photo taken in front of the store. Matsushima-ya, right?

Ainosuke and Benmatsu's lunch boxes are very popular.

IMG_20190128_162858 (2)a.jpg

Benmatsu of "deep taste" because he likes a clear taste.

You say it's easy to diminish the taste. But then, the taste of the tradition will be blurred.

It is said that such a change will no longer be Benmatsu's lunch.

We have a desire to continue to protect as long as there are at least one customer who likes this taste that cannot be imitated elsewhere.

◆ Kyobashi Monogatari 6-The Town at the End of the Turn

[Sumida Fireworks] March 7, 2019 09:00

Epilogue of Kyobashi Monogatari. This is the last time.

Until the last time → 【①【②】【③】【④】⑤】

Below is the cityscape of Kyobashi seen from Ginza around Showa 37 (1962) after the war.

s_hanabi_73-1.jpg

Photo provided: Chuo Ward Kyobashi Library

The building standing on Kyobashi Street has hardly changed from the last pre-war postcard. The remnants of the Taisho era when it was Minami Temmacho can be seen that it survived the Pacific War and continued in the Showa 30s.

However, before the Tokyo Olympics, reclamation of the Kyobashi River began in 1963, Kyobashi disappeared, and the buildings in the town of Kyobashi changed one by one.

Just 50 years ago, in May 1969, the demolition ceremony of the most famous building in Kyobashi, "Daiichi Mutual Hall", was held. Until now, there seems to have been a letter from the Tokyo residents who have been watching the landmarks of Kyobashi, saying, "At least that red brick dome roof that rises on the roof can be left alone?" was. However, this sturdy building that survived the Great Kanto Earthquake and the Pacific War was difficult to dismantle it alone.

On the other hand, there is a bridge over the river that still remains at the site of Kyobashi even when the bridge disappeared. It's the main pillar. Three main pillars are left, two of which are the main pillars of giboshi's design, which are said to belong to Ishibashi in 1875, and the other is the main pillars of the Taisho era bridge that looks like a rocket.

s_hanabi_73-2.jpg

The most popular one is the main pillar of Meiji period, which retains the scent of the Edo period, and I think some people feel differently about the main pillar of the Taisho era, probably because it is less familiar with that era.

This main pillar was always with the city of Minami Temmacho. In the Taisho era, we created a cityscape with a sense of unity with Minami Temmacho, survived the earthquake, watched the reconstruction of Ginza, and Pacific War overcome it together. However, now there are no friends, and in a sense, I feel lonely alone and poor.

This is the main pillar of the Taisho era, but what is the motif of this design in the first place?

Many people know that there is a monument on the banks of the radish and a monument to the birthplace of Edo Kabuki in the Kyobashi Daikon Riverside Hospitality Garden at Hashizume, the current Kyobashi Ruins. However, it seems that it is not well known that the "sleeve pillars" of Kyobashi, a bridge between the Taisho era, is left in this place.

s_hanabi_73-3.jpg

At present, this sleeve pillar is given an important role as a park stop. The recent renovation of the park seems to have moved a little bit, but it may be difficult to see this and imagine it is an old sleeve pillar.

However, this design is excellent. Let's take a look at it. There is a large hemisphere in the middle, and four small around it are Mokomokomokomokomokomoko. Isn't this similar to something? 。 Until now, if you have been involved in this long story, I think there is something you can imagine.

s_hanabi_73-4.jpg

Early Showa period, photo provided: Chuo Ward Kyobashi Library

I can only see it on the "three dome roofs" of a building in Minami Temmacho.

If so, isn't the main pillar simply using the roof of the building in Minami Temmacho as a motif? I guess I just stretched the image of the sleeve pillar upwards with Guy-n. As if the dome roof of the former Daido Life Building had become a Tongari roof.

Well, it's free and fun to imagine. History is a mystery, and it is interesting because there is room to imagine those who do not know the identity. It's a great deal, so I'll imagine a little more.

There are still friends in the main pillars of the Taisho era.

s_hanabi_73-5.jpg

It is Ginza 1-chome police box located in Hashizume, the ruins of Kyobashi. I'm always watching the city of Ginza from the hashi in Ginza.

It seems that this police box building was built in the 1980s, but the design of the roof is undoubtedly the main pillar of Kyobashi with the Tongari roof of the Taisho era.

But that's all.

Looking at the design of eaves and windows, I could see the streets of the "turn corner" that had been watching the reconstruction of Ginza from the Taisho era to the early Showa era, not the brick street in Ginza in the Meiji era. Toyokuni Bank, Daido Life Building, Daiichi Mutual Center, Hoshi Pharmaceutical, 34 Bank, Chiyoda-kan ... And Kyobashi with a Tongari roof.

The former bridge and the cityscape of Minami Temmacho have become one building, and now we are watching the city of Ginza as a police box. If you think so, the design of this police box seems very wonderful.

s_hanabi_TheBendInTheRoad_73-6.jpg

If you walk along Ginza Street, Kyobashi is a city that looks like a "turn corner". When I tried to find out during the Meiji and Taisho eras in the library, there were many books in Nihonbashi and Ginza, but there were few books in the town of Kyobashi in the middle, and I didn't know how to find it, so I couldn't grasp the image of the city and the background of the times. When I thought so, I found something. This is a picture of a postcard. The postcard is a first-class historical material that allows you to imagine the past cityscape, and the town of Kyobashi has a postcard that is as competitive as Nihonbashi and Ginza. I collected the postcards of Kyobashi, arranged them in chronological order, and spun them in sentences.

We hope that you will be able to walk through the current "turn corner" town while imagining the streets of the Meiji, Taisho and early Showa eras in this story. I'm sure there's something great waiting for you.

It's over.

I read the budget (draft) for FY2019, Chuo-ku

[wienerhorn] March 6, 2019 12:00

Hot Plaza Harumi IMG_5710.jpgI read the budget (draft) for FY2019 published on the homepage of Chuo-ku.
The general account exceeded 100 billion yen for the first time as an initial budget.
It is a budget that takes into account population growth, the Tokyo 2020 Games, and the infrastructure development committee with a view to the "200,000 cities" ahead.
Among the new major businesses, I focused on the following:

・Local rat control promotion project
・Revision of bridge life extension repair plan
・Survey of New Subway Lines
・Maintenance of "Edo Bus" Free Wi-Fi
・Noh and Kabuki appreciation classes
・Participation in Brasilian Youth School Games
・Development of Tokiwa Elementary School (Annex)
・Origami Crane Project (tentative name)
・Renewal of warm bath Plaza Hot Plaza Harumi

In particular, I'm worried about the new subway line, Hot Plaza Harumi, etc.
What kind of business are you interested in?

History and Origin of Nihonbashi Funasa-Nihonbashi Funasa-

[rosemary sea] March 5, 2019 09:00

This is a rosemary sea, which covers "gifts and I enjoy myself" formally.

IMG_20190123_111924 (2)a.jpg

The other day, I introduced the items of the shop of Funasa Nihonbashi, a long-established Tsukudani.

Click here for the previous article.

⇒ /archive/2019/02/post-6101.html

This time, I would like to talk about the history and origin of Mr. Funasa Nihonbashi.

Mr. Yu Miyauchi (Yuu Miyauchi, General Manager of Nihonbashi Funasa Co., Ltd.

Then...

IMG_20190123_111501 (2)a.jpg

Funasa Nihonbashi was founded in 1862 (Bunkyu 2), around the end of the Edo period.

Sakichi was originally a samurai. Hokushin Kazuto style, skill of licensing.

My hobby was fishing, and I sold the caught small crucian as a skewer, and sold it as "Funa Kotobuki Umeyaki" with soy sauce.

One day I set up a fishing boat and got into time. It was Tsukuda Island.

So I got hints that a local fisherman was salty and boiled small fish and sold it. It is said that the soy sauce boiled at this time created the prototype of the current Tsukudani.

IMG_20190123_114615 (2)a.jpg

Tsukudani came to attract attention in the battle between Nisshin and Russo.

Tsukudani, which was highly preserved, was regarded as a wartime food, so that soldiers after returning to Japan could buy Tsukudani.

IMG_20190123_111540 (2)a.jpg

The name of the shop is "Sayoshi of Funaya", which is the naming from there, but "Kinfunasa Tsukudani" is registered as a trademark.

It is derived from the memorial of Kanemori Ono (Kanemori), the third generation, who further devised the taste of the secrets inherited, and created Edo's specialty Tsukudani.

Funasa Nihonbashi, who has a reputation for Edo food, is now the fourth generation Ryuhei Miyauchi (Ryuhei), and the fifth generation Yu Miyauchi, are creating items such as Tsukudani.

IMG_20190123_112034 (2)a.jpg

By the way, Mr. Funasa Nihonbashi has been quoted in a rosmari article before.

It is "I will talk about the history of Mr. Shigeru Kami 2" uploaded on March 9, 2017.

At that time, Mr. Kamimo and President Inoue's talk. ・・・

"When actor Masanobu Katsumura went around Nihonbashi on TBS's program "Pantankokan Kan" broadcast in August 2012, my mother also came out with the shop.

Katsumura's father was a craftsman of Tsukudani's Funasa. ・・・』

・・Yes, Mr. Katsumura's father was the manufacturing manager of Funasa Nihonbashi.

It is diagonally opposite across the road from Kamaboko's long-established store, Nihonbashi Jinmo and Funasa.

Both are members of the Toto Goodwill Association.

IMG_20190123_112313 (2)a.jpg

Mr. Toto Norenkai ...

A collection of old goodwill shops that have been in the same business for more than 100 years in Edo and Tokyo, and still meet the conditions of thriving.

There are more than 50 stores, and Rosmari articles also include Eitaro Sohonho, Kuroeya, Senbikiya Sohonten, and Haibara (in no particular order).

In addition, Nihonbashi Benmatsu Sohonten, who will write articles in the future, is also a member.

Okonomiyaki restaurant in Osaka in Kyobashi [Tsuruhashi Kitchin]

[Dimini ☆ Cricket] March 4, 2019 12:00

I'm Kichin Tsuruhashi, an okonomiyaki restaurant in Osaka that I've introduced in this blog before.

It is located on the first basement floor of Tokyo Square Garden in Kyobashi 3-chome.

kitch201901.JPG

Today, I ordered the "mixed ball set meal" of the okonomiyaki set.

You can choose one from salad, white rice, and side dishes.

I chose the side dish.

Okonomiyaki is fluffy, crispy and undoubtedly safe.

In addition, okonomiyaki sets are rich in variations such as pork balls, beef suji balls, mochi cheese balls, etc.

The lunch menu is also full of steaks, with domestic beef steak bowl, domestic beef steak bowl set meal, domestic beef grated steak set meal, domestic beef grated steak set meal, domestic beef grated hamburger set meal, domestic beef teriyaki hamburger set meal, etc. You.

kitch201903.JPG

Lunch time starts at 11:30.

The regular holiday is Sunday.
