The tulips are in full bloom at Nihonbashi Toyamakan
Spring flowers and tulips that everyone loves, from children to adults, and tulips, which are the prefectural flowers that came to Nihonbashi Toyamakan from Toyama, the hometown, bloomed colorful flowers, and spring seems to have come a little earlier.
Until January 31 (Sun), the tulip fair of the Tonami Kirihana Study Group is being held. Cut flowers will also be sold on the 30th (Sat) and 31st (Sun).
I spoke to Mr. Minamitani, the manager. At first, they exported bulbs to Europe. In a paddy field where rice cultivation has ended, it is planted for effective use in winter as a back crop, and eventually beautiful flowers became popular and became an industry in this area. We now boast the largest number of bulb shipments in Japan and the number of varieties owned.
Every year from September to October, bulbs are also sold at shops in Nihonbashi.
Nihonbashi Toyamakan also has traditional crafts, seafood, mountain food, delicious sake shops, Japanese restaurants and bars, and tourist information corners. I would like to visit Toyama again, right next to the road mark of Nihonbashi.
