Kuroeya (lacquerware specialty store)

Until now, we have introduced specializing in food, but this time we have been interviewing other than food for the first time. This is Mr. Kuroeya, a specialty store of lacquerware. Founded in 1689 in 1689, it is located on the second floor of Kuroeya Kokubu Building near the base of Nihonbashi, and as soon as the elevator opens, a lot of beautiful lacquerware jumps into your eyes. A rare soup bowl made in Tokyo will welcome you next to the signboard at the front entrance. Many works are collected from all over the country, but Edo lacquerware is said to have started when Ieyasu Tokugawa invited lacquer craftsmen in Kyoto in 1590. However, there are few craftsmen, and Kuroeya seems to be focusing on local industrial development. The photo is a work by Shintaro Ataku of Sumida-ku, and Edo lacquerware is original and has a Kuroeya mark on the back. Our lacquerware sales are held at stores (including lacquerware markets four times a year), Chuo-ku Information Center, department store events, etc.

1.Aragatatori

The tochi wood is roughly shaped like a cup to dry for a long time to prevent cracking.

It is finished in the shape of a cup using a potter's wheel.

3.Kigatame

After repairing the wood with a kokuso (a mixture of lacquer and wood chips), apply raw lacquer on the entire surface.

4.Rust with rust

Rust (a mixture of lacquer and grinding powder) is attached with a spatula.

Wooden lacquer Pin Badge

Wooden lacquer Pin Badge Kuroeya (Lacquerware specialty store)

A cute and elegant pin badge. What a wood. It is a gem designed by students from Tokyo University of the Arts. Why don't you put this on and take it out to Ginza in spring? I'm a man, but I'd like to wear a cat badge. A friend who saw the photo said that the bird wanted to attach it cutely.

Sushi bowls from all over the country lined up luxuriously

I have learned a lot from the interview, but I taught you the basics of handling lacquerware.

Washing with a neutral detergent is OK, but be sure to wipe it off after draining. The materials are zelkova and tochi. You all know already, right?
