Toward the Sumida River Olympic Games
It's nice weather, so I've been here for the first time in a long time. Do you know where it is?
I have a big sphere. And in the lower left, you can see a little sky tree. This is Ryogoku Bridge that spans the Sumida River.
On the Sumida River, there is a promenade called the Sumida River Terrace, where you can walk along the waterside. Until now, construction of this terrace has been carried out in various places, but last year, it became possible to walk under the bridge here at Ryogoku Bridge.
This is quite useful.
Until now, the Sumida River Terrace was cut off in front of Ryogoku Bridge, so when I wanted to continue walking along the terrace along the river, I had to go up to the national highway above and cross the traffic light.
However, due to the construction, the Sumida River Terrace was directly connected to the base of Yanagibashi, which spans the mouth of the Kanda River, under Ryogoku Bridge. For Sumida River Terrace fans, the hassle so far have been eliminated and I am happy.
If you climb the stairs a little from the Sumida River Terrace, you can get to the stone monument space at the side of Yanagibashi. This is also beautifully maintained. It's a good idea to rest your feet in front of these monuments, or to relax at the Sumida River from the top of Yanagibashi or immerse yourself in the emotional landscape of the Kanda River camp. The easier access to the Asakusa area upstream of the Sumida River has made it easier to walk, and the pleasure of walking has increased considerably.
For me who likes bridges, it is a little pleasure to be able to see Ryogoku Bridge at an angle that has never existed before. Ryogoku Bridge is gray color close to black. I think it's a slender and cool bridge. 87 years after completion in 1932, Historic buildings has been selected by Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Someone heard that the reason why it was made slender was that until the Showa era, "Sumida River Fireworks" had risen beside this bridge, so it was considered not to disturb watching it. There is. Does it mean that it was made so that it was not noticeable?
I don't know what the truth is, but if you think so, this color looks good. It's like a "silly handsome" of the Sumida River.
Construction work at other estuaries
In addition to the Kanda River, many rivers are pouring into the Sumida River. There were many places where the Sumida River Terrace was interrupted by those estuaries. However, this problem has been improved at a rapid pace, and it has become quite fun, such as the construction of bridges over the estuary and the construction of new bridges for pedestrians at the estuary with sluice gates.
Do you know where this bridge is?
"Toyomi Bridge" spans the mouth of the Nihonbashi River. The photo shows the autumn scenery of 2017 two years ago, but after this, the construction of the bridge has started, and the construction is now in its final stage. I think it will be easier to connect to the Sumida River Terrace, but it seems to change the way lighting is applied to the bridge, and it is very interesting to see what kind of light it will be.
The highlight is the light-up of the bridge on the Sumida River.
By the way, looking at the main stream of the Sumida River, construction of the bridge over the Sumida River is also progressing. One of the highlights of this work is the construction of "light-up lighting". In the lower part of the Sumida River, as far as I know, we are working on Kiyosu Bridge, Eitai Bridge, Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge, Kachidokibashi, and Tsukiji Ohashi.
<Eitai Bridge>
Kiyosu Bridge, Eitai Bridge, and Kachidokibashi, which are important cultural properties, have been lit up until now, but the image of night light seems to change due to construction. In addition, Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge and Tsukiji Ohashi have also joined the light-up, so the night view of the Sumida River has been quite fun. The number of people who enjoy the Sumida River at night will increase in the future.
<Kiyosu Bridge>
Tokyo has finally reached one year before the Olympics. The Sumida River, which can be said to be the main river in Tokyo, is steadily preparing to welcome domestic and overseas people for the Olympics.
When you come to Tokyo to watch the Olympics, I would like you to see the flowing Sumida River. And after the Olympics ended
"The Sumida River flowing through Tokyo was a beautiful river."
I hope the Olympics will be celebrated with great preparations that will be made available to people around the world.
What kind of change will the Sumida River take over the next year? I'm really looking forward to it, so I'd like to watch it with interest.
