Towards the Sumida River Olympics
It's nice weather, so I've been here for a long time. Do you know where it is?
I have a big sphere. And in the lower left, there is a little Skytree. This is Ryogoku Bridge over the Sumida River.
In the Sumida River, there is a promenade called "Sumida River Terrace" where you can walk along the waterside. Until now, construction of this terrace has been carried out in various places, but last year, it has become possible to walk under the bridge here at Ryogoku Bridge.
This is quite useful.
Until now, the Sumida River Terrace was cut off in front of Ryogoku Bridge, so when I wanted to continue walking along the terrace along the river, I had to go up to the upper national highway and cross the traffic light.
However, due to the construction, the Sumida River Terrace was directly connected under Ryogoku Bridge to the side of Yanagibashi, which spans the mouth of the Kanda River. For Sumida River Terrace fans, the trouble so far has disappeared, and it is a pleasure.
If you climb the stairs a little from the Sumida River Terrace, you can go to the stone monument space at the end of Yanagibashi. It was also beautifully maintained here. It's a good idea to rest in front of these monuments, or to take a leisurely view of the Sumida River from the top of Yanagibashi or immerse yourself in the emotional Kanda River boathouse scenery. As it has become easier to access the Asakusa area upstream of the Sumida River, the pleasure of walking has increased considerably.
For me who likes bridges, it is a little pleasure to be able to see Ryogoku Bridge in an angle that has never been before. Ryogoku Bridge is a gray color close to black. I think it’s a nice, narrow bridge. 87 years after its completion in 1932, it is now Historic buildings selected by Tokyo.
Someone heard that the reason why it was made slim was because the "Sumida River Fireworks" was rising beside this bridge until the Showa era, so it was considered not to disturb viewing it. There is. Do you think it was made unobstructed?
I don't know what the truth is, but if you think so, this color looks good. Do you feel like the "silence handsome" of the Sumida River?
Construction at other mouths
In addition to the Kanda River, many rivers pour into the Sumida River. There were many places where the Sumida River terrace was interrupted by those estuaries. However, this problem has been improved at a rapid pace, and it has become quite enjoyable, such as the construction of a bridge over the estuary and the construction of a new bridge for pedestrians at the estuary with the sluice gate. Was.
Do you know where this bridge is?
"Toyomi Bridge" spans the mouth of Nihonbashi River. The photo shows the autumn scenery of 2017 two years ago, but after this, the construction of the bridge was started, and the construction is now in its final stages. I think it will be easier to connect with the Sumida River Terrace, but it seems that the way the lighting is applied to the bridge will be changed, and it is very interesting to see what kind of light it will be.
The highlight is the light-up of the bridge in Sumida River
By the way, looking at the main stream of the Sumida River, the bridge over the Sumida River is also under construction. One of the highlights of the construction is the construction of "light-up lighting". In the lower part of the Sumida River, as far as I know, I am working on Kiyosu Bridge, Eitai Bridge, Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge, Kachidokibashi, and Tsukiji Ohashi Bridge.
Eitai Bridge
Kiyosu Bridge, Eitai Bridge, and Kachidokibashi, which are important cultural properties, have been lit up until now, but it seems that the image of night light changes due to construction. In addition, Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge and Tsukiji Ohashi are also members of the light-up, so the night view of the Sumida River has been quite fun. The number of people who enjoy the Sumida River at night will increase.

Tokyo has finally reached a year before the Olympics. The Sumida River, which can be said to be the main river of Tokyo, is steadily preparing for the Olympics to welcome people from Japan and overseas.
When you come to Tokyo to watch the Olympics, please take a look at the flowing Sumida River. And after the Olympics,
“The Sumida River flowing through Tokyo was a beautiful river.”
I hope that the Olympics will be celebrated with wonderful preparations that people around the world can think of.
What kind of change will the Sumida River undergo in the next year? I'm very excited, so I'd like to watch with interest.
