During the Edo period, there was Nakahashi on the way from Nihonbashi to Kyobashi along Tooricho-suji in Nihonbashi and the current Chuo-dori. It's just at the intersection of the current Yaesu Street and Chuo-dori.
At the beginning of Edo, on the current Yaesu Street, there was a large river (moat) called the Momiji River, which runs from Kaede River to outer moat, and the bridge over it was Nakahashi.
In the vicinity of Nakahashi, there were Kyogen Odori, a playhouse in Joruri, and a Kabuki hut in Saruwakaza, the birthplace of Edo Kabuki.

After that, by the time of the great fire of the Meiryaku era, the Momiji River was reclaimed, Nakahashi was removed, and the site was Nakahashi Hirokoji. It is one of the famous places in Edo, and speaking of Nakahashi in Edo, it refers to this place.

The teahouse on the left is written as "Ogawa", and the teahouse on the right is written as "Kankiku", and these teahouses seem to have been crowded as meeting places when traveling from Edo to east, such as visiting Oyama. .
