Experience the world of fragrance at Hatoido
This is the first project on an exciting tour, "Touch the world of fragrance at Hatoido". In the middle of Ginza, the shop opens with a bell that tells Wako 10 o'clock. One of the origins of the name of Hatoido is said to have been named by former customer scholar Murotosu, and the oldest collection of poems in China, "Shikei", "Imagi Yusu Igayuki" (It is said that pigeons who are not good at nesting live by renting a magpie's nest).
About Tokyo Hatoido
Founded in Kyoto in 1663 (Kanbun 3), Hatoido opened a store in Ginza in 1880 (Meiji 13) so that products can be delivered to the Imperial Palace in line with the relocation of the capital to Tokyo. We sell incense, calligraphy supplies, Japanese paper products (postcards, stationery, envelopes, etc.), and operate the Hatoido Gallery. Among them, “Oka” is particularly focused on selling various fragrance-related products. At the time of its founding, he was engaged in a “medicine dealer” that handles drugs (kampo drugs) and their raw materials. Various fragrances from the ingredients of the medicine helped me to start making incense. In 1877, the then Minister of State, Sanetomi Sanjo, gave the secret incense method that has been handed down only between nobles, and the scent of Heian with a long history of more than 900 years has been preserved and passed down.
Experience incense
It is an experience of burning incense in an incense burner and listening to the scent. While instructing the civil engineering of Tokyo Hatoido to teach the procedure, we use special tools to burn incense. First, embed a small cylindrical charcoal that lit fired in the vessel containing the ash. Next, while turning the incense burner, lightly press Haiyama so that it becomes a conical shape with ash. Place the silver leaf on the ash mountain and place the incense tree.
The scent comes up from the incense tree warmed by charcoal and listens quietly. Eventually the room was wrapped in an elegant scent.
Experience of embossed incense
Another experience is embossed incense. Mr. Takahashi will tell you. Choose your favorite scent from the various flavors in the tapper and mix it with water in the milk bowl. Put the cohesive material between the vinyl and stretch it with a stick.
It is the same type as making sweets, and choose your favorite shape and remove the mold.
The incense removed in the shape of a star, heart, or bear is like a cookie. It seems that the incense you made can be taken home and dried for 1-2 days.
From the time I entered the shop, I was wrapped in a traditional Japanese scent and spent an elegant time. It was an experience of making incense that I couldn't usually do, and customers enjoyed it very much. Since Heian, there has been such a style of culture in Japan.
