2019 Tsukiji Honganji Night Removing Party Countdown
In 2017, 400 years since the foundation of the predecessor, Honganji Edo Gobo, was established, and as part of the “Tera and” Project, an initiative aimed at becoming a familiar presence open to more people, Tsukiji Honganji with a cafe/shop/book center, a joint tomb, and a temple grounds. From 23:00 on December 31st, the New Year's Eve Buddhist memorial service held a New Year's Eve celebration in main hall, looking back on the passing year, thinking about the new year, and looking for the benefits of the Buddha at the end of the year.

Only 350 people distributed from 22:00 will be guided to the bell tower after visiting the night party. Finally, the beginning of a new year, the first year of Reiwa will be reached. Crackers are distributed to worshipers, and as the chorus of the countdown ends and the year ends, crackers are screamed all at once, and main hall is filled with cheers to celebrate the New Year. At the venue, New Year's book presentation, Gagaku performance, and pipe organ performance will be performed, and it will be crowded until the closing of 2:00.
