Origin of Ogawa Bridge
~ Ogawa Bridge Ruins ~
This is rosemary sea, covering "gifts and I enjoy myself" to Egar.
There is Hisamatsu Children's Park next to Hisamatsu Police Station.
The road side is called the "Ogawa Bridge Ruins", and there is a monument written as "Ogawa Bridge Origin".
This time, let's focus on this monument.
Then...
Origin of Ogawa Bridge
This area is Hamacho moat, which was opened in the early Edo period, bordered Okawa and played a major role as a transportation route for goods, and was later called the Hamacho River.
On December 3, 1886, a pistol robbery occurred in Bakurocho, and Yoshiro Ogawa, Hisamatsu Police Station, police officer Yoshiro Ogawa (I don't know how to read it. Do you read "Takichiro"?) On the way to the site, he found a suspicious man near Tachibana-cho (currently Higashi-Nihonbashi 3-chome), was fighting, tracking down the banks of Hamacho while seriously injured, and caught the man.
The man was called Sadakichi Shimizu, who ran around Tokyo with a pistol and Japanese sword for over 10 years at that time, and suffered more than 80 damages during that time, killing five people. It was a rare pirate.
Mr. Ogawa made a second grade special progress due to this achievement and was appointed as assistant inspector, but died at the age of 24 on April 26, 1888 due to wounds at that time.
The Tokyo prefectural people regretted the precious death of Inspector Ogawa, named the bridge in this area Ogawa Bridge, and praised the immortal achievement.
The world has moved and the Hamacho River has been reclaimed, and the bridge related to it has disappeared, but a monument derived from the site has been erected to honor the achievements of Inspector Ogawa.

This monument of "Ogawa Bridge Origin" is built at the entrance of Hisamatsu Children's Park.
There are playground equipment and jabujabu ponds in this children's park.
Although it can not be said to be large, the safe location next to Hisamatsu Elementary School and Hisamatsu Police Station.
It is a fun and waiting pond for small children, but this year, in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the Jabujabu Pond of four municipal parks in the ward, including this, will be held later than usual .
The cleaning was carefully done on this day too.
Looking at the direction of the screen in front, it can be seen that it was a waterway.
And a little behind this is Hamacho Ryokudo Park.
Green Road Park...
As I explained many times, in Keigo Higashino's novel "Newcomer", it was described as a walking route for the clock shop's dog "Donkichi" in Chapter 4 "Clock shop Dog".
And in "Kirin no Tsubasa", a man suspected to be the criminal at the beginning hides himself, and was chased by a policeman and jumped out to Shin-ohashi-dori St. and was hit by a car.
In addition, in "When the curtain of prayer descends," the nurse Kanamori walked in the last scene, passed through the sports center in Hamacho Park, and headed to see a detective Kaga.
The park where all three works are drawn is "Green Road Park".
・・Let's go back to the story.
As mentioned in the monument of the origin, there was a waterway called Hamachobori.
There is no Ogawa Bridge right now, but before that, it seems that it was called "Nanba Bridge".
The reason why it was called Nanba Bridge was that Nihonbashitomizawacho and Nihonbashi Ningyocho 2-chome were called "Naniwacho" in the Edo period, so the bridge was also "Nanba Bridge" .
In 1871, it was slightly integrated and renamed "Nanamachi", but the bridge is "Nanba Bridge".
However, the incident that changed the name of the bridge, in fact, was Japan's first handgun robber.
In 1899, it was turned into a movie as Japan's first drama movie under the title of "Pistol Robbery Sadakichi Shimizu".
It seems that Mr. Ogawa was the family of Kaga clansman.
Despite his wounds on his back and stomach, he was brave enough to catch the criminal, but he died from the wound.
In this blog, Tachibana wrote on January 15, 2014 as "Ogawa Bridge-a brave policeman".
I am deeply moved by this story that Tachibana heard from his grandfather and grandmother.
