Yukata Museum in Nihonbashi Ningyocho
There are various museums in Chuo Ward, but this time we will introduce the subway Ningyocho Station.
The "Yukata Museum" is about a 2-minute walk from the station.
Sankatsu, a wholesaler of yukata, founded in 1894 (Meiji 27) (Meiji 27).
On display are the fabrics of our products and dyeing tools that have been used for a long time.
First, I saw an indigo yukata on the white background installed at the entrance of the exhibition space.
I'll do it. This is a work by Kotaro Shimizu, a living national treasure, and Edo called "Nagaita Nakagata".
It seems that it was made using dyeing techniques from the times. A long board of about 6m is used for molding.
A mold is placed on both sides of the fabric, fine patterns are dyed without seam, and training is required.
It's a very time-consuming technique.
By the way, the current director of the Yukata Museum (Keisaburo Shimizu) is the third son of Kotaro Shimizu.
That's right.
Exhibitions include fabrics from the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras, dyeing tools, yukata dyeing, and
Old magazines and posters, Yokozuna Hakuho's sumo yukata, famous rakugo storyteller's yukata
A variety of things are on display.
In this area of Chuo-ku, many wholesalers were burned down in the war, so they are well preserved.
It seems that it is very valuable to have a yukata left.
Admission is free, but advance reservations are required and two-part system from 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm
It's a coincidence.
When visiting the Ningyocho neighborhood, look at the delicate and elegant "Yukata" and visit Edo.
Why don't you feel it?
