Shitamachi Nihonbashi Shichifukujin pilgrimage

I wish you all the best wishes for the New Year. By January 7, the tour of the Seven Lucky Gods, which prays for wishing for prosperity by pilgrimage to the seven pillars of gods that would bring happiness to Ebisu, Daikokuten, Vaisravana, Benzaiten, Hobukuro-son, Fukurokuju and Kotobuki-jin, became widespread during the Edo period.

At first, the pilgrimage route and the composition of the seven temples and shrines were not necessarily determined, and individuals chose the seven gods for each.

Ukiyo-e also depicts the Seven Lucky Gods on a treasure ship.
It can be seen that during the New Year, the Seven Lucky Gods, which also serves as a new year worshipping, was popular among the common people.

The Nihonbashi Seven Lucky Gods Tour consists of eight shrines located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku.

It began with the idea of Yoriyasu Arima around 1950, was temporarily suspended, and revived in 1976. (Edo Tokyo Fudasho Encyclopedia)

The total length is about 4 km, and it is said to be the shortest pilgrimage tour of Seven Lucky Gods in Japan.

Why don't you enjoy the scenery full of downtown atmosphere for new year worshipping?
