Nihonbashi, a city with "en" in "Fuku"
"Hiking from the station" of JR East is being held in Chuo-ku. You can participate free of charge from Shin-Nihonbashi Station on the JR Sobu Line. I went to Saturday, so many people were lined up at the reception next to the ticket gate. Departure with registration card, map, badge and bookmark of participation.
Start-Fukutoku Shrine
The first spot after leaving the station is Fukutoku Shrine. It is said that during the Jogan period (859-876), he was already enshrined here, and Ieyasu Tokugawa also visited. In the Edo period, along with Sugimori Shrine, it is one of the few shrines that have been granted lottery tickets, and many worshipers who wish to win lottery. Because of the tree buds on the torii gate, it is also called the budding shrine, and it is a good luck shrine.
Otemmacho-Nihonbashi Yokoyama-cho, Bakurocho wholesale district
There's Edoya on the way. This building was listed in the 9th Chuo-ku Tourism Test. From the shape of this building, I was asked what the shop was dealing with. I am confident and have a big mistake for "fingers"! It is a long-established brush that has been around for 300 years since 1718.
This is Yokoyamacho and Bakurocho wholesale district, and textile manufacturers called cotton shops in the Edo period are lined up in a row. Cotton was grown in Japan during the Edo period and spread to the common people. Soft, durable and beautiful coloring cotton has gained popularity, and the appearance of the black plastered and dark blue Japanese shop curtain shops is also depicted in Hiroshige's "Hundred Views of Edo, Otenmacho Cotton Shop".
Ryogokubashi-Shinohashi
Sky Tree from Ryogoku Bridge
"Shinohashi" was created after Ryogoku Bridge, which was called Ohashi in the Edo period. As other bridges fell during the Great Kanto Earthquake, only this bridge remained and played a major role as evacuation route. The bridge at that time is on display in Meiji Village, Aichi Prefecture. The relief of Hiroshige's late masterpiece "Hundred Views of Edo, Great Hashitake Evening" is displayed in the center of the bridge. Even though the bridge changes, the Sumida River continues to flow in the same way.
Ningyocho-Nihonbashi
I came to Chanogi Shrine from Suitengu Shrine. It was crowded with people visiting the Seven Lucky Gods of Nihonbashi. Chanogi Shrine was said to be the god of Hotei and Hibushi.
At lunch, I ate shrimp fried noodles at Choju-an in Kayabacho, and regained my energy with warmth and deliciousness. The soup stock and tempura are exquisite, ukiyo-e on the wall, the washroom is marked with Yukigakuin, in the middle of Edo.
Cross Nihonbashi, stop at the Monetary Museum of the Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies (open throughout the period), and finish at JR Shin-Nihonbashi Station from the Fukushima antenna shop, Nihonbashi Fukushimakan MIDETTE. The time and place to stop were free, and it was a course where you could enjoy the sense of distance and scenery that you did not understand on the map. Why don't you go out to walk around the city?
