 The 65th Cold Bathing Tournament

From 11:00 on January 12th, the 65th New Year's annual “Kannaka Bathing Tournament (Kannaka Misogi)” was held at the precincts of Tepposu Inari Shrine. Every year on the second Sunday of New Year's Day, the Shinto ritual prays for sound health by performing a purification ceremony to cleanse the mind and body in front of God in the New Year. It is a traditional festival revived in 1955 as the "Kannaka Bathing Tournament" by the predecessor Miyaji in the beginning of the year, which was once called the cold elimination and the cold purification ceremony.

Participants were white headbands, men were white Echinchu loincloths, and women were white clothing. After Miyaji Nakagawa's greeting and exorcism, under the guidance of the Tokyo Metropolitan Shrine Agency's training event Michihiko (= leader) Shino Naotsushi Itabashi Hikawa Shrine Miyaji, first go out on a public road and run around the shrine, and then go to a bird boat (boat) for the preparatory movement After doing so, immerse yourself in the aquarium with ice pillars and purify the soul and soul. Finally, we will perform a bird boat for the rearrangement campaign again and finish the cold purification ceremony. At 9:00 on the day, a votive performance of the gunshot music will be held in Kagura Hall, and warm amazake will be served to worshipers at the back of the grounds.
