Chuo-ku at that time to know on an anniversary-April edition-
Hello. It's Hanes, who has entered the third year of correspondent in no time in the new year.
I often hear proverbs about "three years", such as "three years on stone" and "three years on peach chestnut three years persimmon eight years".
While valuing the beginning, by the end of the third year, I hope that I can make some form of the experience I have cultivated through correspondent activities.
In the first article in the third year, we will introduce the anniversary of Nihonbashi, which is called "the starting point of Gokaido" and "the beginning of the road", with the meaning of "returning to the beginning".♪
Nihonbashi Opening Anniversary (April 3)
On this day of 1911, Nihonbashi was replaced from Kibashi to the current stone double arch bridge.
The dorsal fin-like wings found on the bridge lights in the center of the bridge represent the prosperity of Tokyo City at the time of completion, and the lion statue at the four corners of the bridge represents a guardian.
In the center of the bridge, there is a "Japan Road Sign", which is the starting point of the national highway.
However, there is a lot of traffic and it is difficult to actually see nearby.
Therefore, at Hashizume Square "Otoshi Square", you can see a replica and the "Tokyo City Road Original Mark" built in 1911 and relocated when the Toden was abolished.
It is "Tokyo City Road Original Mark", but the color of the original mark and pigeon are similar.
I don't notice when I look at it somehow, but if I look closely, there are a lot of pigeons and I am often surprised myself (laughs).
Please take a closer look at the picture above. ♪ (There are few pigeons even with this.)
Anpan's Day (April 4)
Next is a delicious anniversary.
On this day of 1875, when Emperor Meiji had a cherry blossom viewing at the Mito clan residence on Mukaijima, Kimuraya Anpan was presented as a tea confectionery.
It is said that Yasubee Kimura of Kimuraya received advice from Samurai Tesshu Yamaoka at the time, ordered salted salted petals of double cherry blossoms from Mt. Yoshino in Nara, and embed them in Anpan to express the sense of the season.
(Reference: What is Kimuraya Sohonten Anpan Day?) ~ Emperor Meiji and "Sakura Anpan"~)
Such "Sakura Anpan" is also particular about sake-type dough, and you can still enjoy the taste of those days.♪
Kafun Anniversary (April 30)
This day of 1959 is the anniversary of the novelist and essayist Kafu Nagai.
This literary writer who has heard the name once, actually has settled in the current Tsukiji!
It doesn't seem to be widely known, and I learned for the first time this time.
For more information, please see "Kafu Nagai behind Tsukiji alley" by senior correspondent Yotaro and "Kafu Nagai" Tsukiji So "" by CAM.
Minami Takahashi
And if you say his representative work, many people think of "Shokutei Nijo"?
There is such a description in this work.
"From the Kabukiza Theater, take a shared car and get off the car in front of the gunpowder Inari, cross Minami Takahashi, reach the landing wharf called Echizen moat, sit on a stone and watch the famous moon. The factory in Ishikawajima shines brilliantly with lights and is a state of prosperity. On the water there are two or three steamships bound for Zuzhou Oshima. (...)」
Minami Takahashi is rarely crossed except for those who live or work nearby, but it is actually an interesting bridge.
・Part of Ryogoku Bridge, which was damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake, has been reinforced and reused.
・It is the second oldest steel truss bridge in Tokyo after Hachiman Bridge (former Dansho Bridge).
・It is the sixth oldest steel truss bridge in Japan that can pass vehicles.
Hashizume has unique monuments and tiles, and cherry blossoms are in full bloom every spring.
When the infectious disease converges, it's a good idea to take a walk from Kabukiza to Ishikawajima via Minami Takahashi, as described in "Shokutei Nijo".♪
You will find a lot of interesting shops and historic sites along the way.
In the next article, we will introduce some novels on the theme of "Spring" and "Chuo-ku"!
