Chuo-ku at that time to know on an anniversary-June edition-

Hello. Since the Tokyo Alert is activated, the active activity is Hanes, which has been absent for a while.
While living in Chuo-ku, Ginza and Nihonbashi have become close and far away.
I'm excited that if I can go out freely, I can enjoy Chuo-ku from a new perspective.
By the way, the preface has become a little longer, but this time I would like to introduce Chuo-ku based on the anniversary as a clue.

Milk Caramel Day (June 10)

June 10th is Milk Caramel Day.
This is the anniversary that the famous Morinaga Confectionery established.
More than 100 years ago, in 1913, the name was changed from the product name "Caramel", which had been used since its founding, and "Milk Caramel" was released.
(For details, please see Morinaga Confectionery Co., Ltd. "Milk Caramel Day".)
How is such milk caramel related to Chuo-ku?

The clue to solving the mystery was in the confectioner "Irifune Aoyagi".
In the photo above, it may seem like a seemingly confectionery store.
However, if you go one step further and approach history, you will have unexpected discoveries and excitement.

Previously, "About 130 years to look back on sweets! As I mentioned in "What is a Japanese confectionery shop that supported the early days of Morinaga Seika?", At this shop, Morinaga, founder of Morinaga Seika, made it as a sample and sold marshmallows, which was the first Japanese mouth, for the first time.
At that time, Western sweets were not easily accepted, but gradually penetrated by the introduction and support of Aoyagi's master.
From such a connection, Morinaga's milk caramel is still on sale.

Date of establishment of the National Bank (June 11)

On the day of 1873, the first bank in Japan (later Imperial Bank, Daiichi Bank, Daiichi Bank, Daiichi Kangyo Bank, and now Mizuho Bank) were established.
Since then, the number of number banks such as "No. ○ National Bank" has increased, and there are still banks in Chuo-ku that continue to use the name at that time.

(The copper plate of the birthplace of the bank is firmly engraved on June 11.)

On the wall of the Kabuto-cho branch of Mizuho Bank, panels on the history of bank buildings, including a Japanese-Western eclectic building designed and constructed by Kisuke Shimizu, and Eiichi Shibusawa are installed.

"[The Eighth Excursion Series] Follow the footsteps of Eiichi Shibusawa...Eiichi Shibusawa, who is closely related to Chuo-ku.
As I mentioned last time, he was 38 years old and became the first president of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce.
At the monument of the birthplace of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry near Saijobashi, you can learn about the artifacts of Western countries and learn about the situation in Japan at the time when modernization was being promoted.

Day of Tsukudani (June 29)

June 29 is the day of Tsukudani established by the National Cooking Food Industry Cooperative.
This day was selected because Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine in Tsukuda, the birthplace of Tsukudani, was founded on June 29, 1646.

The shrine was transferred from Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine, which was located in Tsukuda-mura, Nishinari-gun, Settsu-kuni (currently Nishiyodogawa-ku, Osaka).
For the relationship between Tokyo and Tsukuda (island) in Osaka, please see "[9th excursion series] Island connected by fishermen".

Currently, there are several long-established Tsukudani stores in Tsukuda, and senior correspondents have introduced them so far.
During the Edo period, fishermen on Tsukuda Island were making preserved foods made by boiling small fish in salty.
Later, when soy sauce came in from Noda, the processing method changed from salt water boiled to soy sauce boiled, and was named "Tsukudani" after Tsukuda Island and sold throughout Edo City.
At present, besides seafood, there are also vegetables and meat tsukudani, so I think you can find your favorite gem.

Yeah

This is the twelfth month of this "Chuo-ku at that time to know on an anniversary" series.
The anniversary introduced in the article was an excerpt of what was related to Chuo-ku, but how was it?
There are various types of anniversary, such as those that originated in Chuo-ku, those that are related to Chuo-ku even outside the ward, and those that connect the past and the present over time.
And I only touched a little, but there are various reasons why I set it as an anniversary.
There are many events that tend to be forgotten over time, but it may be interesting to find out what happened not only in the days when I lived, but sometimes in Edo and Meiji period.
