The mystery of the expressway running along the ruins of the Tsukiji River

Hello. Recently, the active activity is Hanes on holidays.
Considering that there is a request to refrain from going out, based on the photos I have taken, I would like to introduce a little maniac Chuo-ku Trivia that you can enjoy `` Hey ~ '' while staying at home three times I think.
This time, the last round, I focused on some parts of the expressway that I was worried about after moving to Chuo-ku!

The "phantom" highway running in Chuo-ku

Before entering the main subject, I would like to take a look at the expressway situation in Chuo-ku.
On December 31, last year, there was news that the Tokyo Kosoku Doro (KK Line) was abolished in the prospect of 2030 and became an aerial garden (January 1, 2020, Tokyo Shimbun morning edition published).
This was proposed by the mayor of Chuo to Governor Koike in late October last year, and is introduced in "Past, Present, and Future of Tokyo Kosoku Doro".
At that time, I wrote based on the discovery that "Chuo-ku has an expressway that can run free of charge", but the expressway that we will cover this time can be said to be a "phantom" highway.

The expressway is where the Metropolitan Expressway Toshin Beltway and the Metropolitan Expressway Harumi Line run, and is located at the site of the Tsukiji River in front of Chuo-ku government office.
The central part surrounded by white guardrails is the currently available highway.
However, you can see something like a road with a width of about two lanes on both sides, right?
If you look at it from a different angle, you can see that the edge is not used.

What is the part that is not like this highway?
The answer is clear when you read the "Written Opinion for Review of the Metropolitan Expressway Harumi Line Plan" posted on the website of the Chuo-ku Assembly.

・For the Metropolitan Expressway Harumi Line, a city plan was decided in July 1993 for the "Ariake-ku Tsukiji" section of the "Ariake-Harumi" section, and the "Ariake-Harumi" section was approved in February 2002. It is now completed to the entrance of Ariake-Toyosu.
・The "Harumi-Tsukiji" section has an underground structure. The line that joins the Metropolitan Expressway Toshin Beltway Ginza, the line that turns to Shin-ohashi-dori St. and creates an entrance and exit in front of the main gate of Tsukiji Market, and the line connecting to the Metropolitan Expressway Toshin Beltway Shintomi are currently no movements (as of 2010) and there is no prospect of commercialization.

In other words, both sides that are not currently in use were scheduled to be connected to other roads.

The plan was reviewed for various reasons, including the total project cost, and construction was suspended.
However, the planned site is not left unavailable!
The underground part of the "Harumi-Tsukiji section" is open and used in a different form.

Multipurpose use is possible! Tsukiji River Park

Looking at the above-mentioned underground part from Irifune Bridge, it is an open space as shown in the photo.
This is part of Tsukiji River Park and is also known for its multipurpose use.
When I visited in January when I took this photo, I heard the children's voices and the sound of a ball hitting the wall from a place like a tunnel in the back right.
I wondered what the inside is like and looked into it, and it seems that it is now open as a catchball field.♫
(Currently during STAY HOME Week, there are requests to refrain from using the park. Please follow the latest instructions in Tokyo and Chuo-ku.

This park often sees the scenery where local boys practice ball games, but under the Irifune Bridge, where a part of the expressway is far away, there is a Wanwan Square.

Also, looking at a part of this park from the ground, there are still some underground tunnels that seemed to have been part of the highway.
Among me who like remain and archeological sites, this mysterious highway was a haze seed all the time, but by investigating in detail at the time of writing the article, the mystery was resolved and it was clear.♪

In addition, you can see the state of the Tsukiji Reservation and the Tsukiji Naval Ministry from the panels attached to bridges around the park.
That's why I would like to briefly introduce the bridge around Tsukiji Park!

Extra Edition - Bridge~

Some of the bridges featured in "Contemporary Edition" Bridge Tsukushi "-Bridges and Beyond Ages-" during the new correspondent era (April 30, 2 years ago) are now neatly maintained.
First of all, during the bridge challenge, Akatsuki Bridge, the fifth bridge that arrived silently while watching the rose window at St. Luke International Hospital like a novel.
Recently, an information board has been installed as the ruins of Akatsuki Bridge!

Next is Sakae Bridge, the sixth bridge in the park.
Like the information board at Akatsuki Bridge, you can see the Tsukiji River at that time with black-and-white photographs.

And a signboard was also set up near the seventh bridge, Bizen Bridge.

Last September, Chuo-ku announced the “Tsukiji River Amenity Development Plan” for the coming international sports festival.
If you can go out freely, I would like to see the relationship between the Tsukiji River and the expressway / bridge again while looking forward to future maintenance.
