Three Kawazu cherry trees planted in a sunny tree-planting zone on the northeast side of the Sumida River Terrace Chuo-ohashi Bridge along Shinkawa Park (Shinkawa 2) along the Sumida River are blooming. It is considered a natural hybrid of Kanhizakura and oshima cherry, and its flower color is pink or light red, giving a strong impression of red petals compared to Yoshino cherry tree. Usually, one of the features of the cherry blossom season begins to bloom in early February, is in full bloom about a month later, and keeps in full bloom for a certain period of time. After the full bloom, the flowers will not scatter, but the leaves will come out and the momentum of the flowers will fall and fade, so it is considered the most beautiful flower appearance when it blooms for six to eight minutes. The flowering time seems to be greatly affected by the weather of the year, and it is said that flowering prediction is difficult until just before.
In Kawazu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture, where Kawazu-zakura is derived, about 8,000 trees are planted throughout the town, centering on about 850 rows of cherry trees along the Kawazu River, which is about 4 km. It seems to be at the best, but from February 10 to March 10, the 30th Kawazu Sakura Festival is being held this year. In addition, Kawazu cherry blossoms on the Sumida River Terrace can enjoy the early arrival of spring even at night with the lights of outside lights.
