This is a rosemary sea, which sensitively covers "gifts and I enjoy myself."

Following the handkerchief specialty store CLASSICS the Small Luxury (Classix the Small Luxury) published on March 17 and the furoshiki specialty store and arabesque shop published on March 19, this time again the `` cloth shop '' in the neighborhood of Ningyocho I will introduce you.

This is Tenugui, a 148-year-old Nihonbashi Horidomecho Todaya Shoten.

Mr. Todaya Shoten ...

Shizono dyeing Yukata, Tenugui, Noren, Hanten, Edo pattern paper and other manufacturing and processing wholesalers.

In addition, although it is a wholesaler, we also retail for those who come to the store.

Those who come here, those who like Tenugui, come from all over the country.

It has been operating in Nihonbashi since 148.

Wholesale deals with department stores, retail stores, museums, theater shops such as Kabukiza Theater, and Nihon Buyo schools.

I'm also involved with Haibara and GINZA HAKKO Kinoka, who appear in Rosmari articles.

In 1872 (Meiji 5), the first Daisuke Kobayashi trained at a cotton cotton wholesaler in the late Edo period, and opened a cotton gold wholesaler in Nihonbashitomizawacho.

In 1902 (Meiji 35), Daisuke Kobayashi, Ushiozome Yukata, etc. were released.

In 1909 (Meiji 42), Torayoshi Kobayashi, the third generation, Yukata of "Nanashi Dye" was released.

In 1933 (Showa 8), the registered trademark name was changed to "Nearen dyeing".

In 1951 (Showa 26), home-use goodwill was released, and this is said to be "the first in Japan."

In 1997, he assumed the position of Representative Director Kenji Kobayashi, the sixth generation.

In 2017 (Heisei 25), the first Nihonbashi collaboration product was released by Ibasen, Haibara and Todaya Shoten.

In 2018 (Heisei 30), a special exhibition was held twice a year at "GINZA HAKKO Kinoka".

It's up to the present.

What is a gold band?

A type of flat-woven cotton fabric, 100% cotton.

It is used for flags, goodwill, flags, etc.

Made of thin cotton fabric, it has a Japanese-style texture.

What is a chusen?

It can be said that it is a characteristic of nashien dyeing.

It is a dyeing method specified as a traditional craft, and can be dyed without front or back.

The beauty of the colors and the good texture are due to hand dyeing by skilled craftsmen.

What is Rienzome?

The main brand of Todaya Shoten Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and wholesaler of Tenugui and Yukata.

It uses original fabrics independently, and is particular about the quality of bleached cotton from Tenugui and Yukata.

And the design concept is "traditional patterns with novel colors and innovative motifs with traditional techniques."

Rather than a retrospective that faithfully reproduces historical things, it adds a new breath to traditional design and changes its shape according to that era. ・・・

It is said that such an evolution will create a unique design.

In addition, the overwhelming variation of the pattern that cannot be imitated elsewhere is the strong point of pear garden dyeing.

We have received pear garden, or Kabuki-like items that make new things while preserving traditional culture.

Please enjoy the quality based on carefully selected materials and craftsmanship, and the best in life.

Mr. Takuya Kobayashi, Sales Department Todaya Store Co., Ltd. Thank you.

This is the son of President Kenji Kobayashi, the current president of Todaya Shoten, and is the seventh generation of Todaya Shoten.

Then, I would like to introduce the items handled by Todaya Shoten in order.

『』 The inside is Mr. Kobayashi's comment.

This time it is wide and shallow, at first it is "Tenugui".

The image at the beginning is "Tenugui Iris of the Four Seasons".

Tenugui, a popular pattern.

"It's the seasonal Tenugui. It's a pattern like Kabuki.

Fujimusume is also popular among foreigners.

Originally there was a Kabuki hut around here, and Kabuki actors took care of me, and the name of "Nearen" in "Nearen dyeing" was like "I can use it" from Kabuki. I use it as a brand name because I received it. ]

"This is all the hand-dyed by craftsmen.

The dyeing factory itself is not owned by us, but a traditional division of labor.

There is a group of dyeing craftsmen in Tokyo, and we design and, yes, it's like a trading company."

Tenugui decoration to match the May festival.

The steam locomotive "1872" is the year of Todaya's founding.

In this way, it can be used as a hanging scroll and as a center cross for tables.

"This is also a seasonal Tenugui display.

The custom order for Tenugui is also available here, so you can decorate it like this.

There is another color variation for steam locomotives, and although this is fresh green, there is also a "foliage" version in which orange dye is pouring green dye over the same version that changes color, that is.

"It's a technique called" pouring dyeing ", but to put it simply, there is a pattern, and a cloth is laid there, dyed glue is applied from the house, and the dye is poured and dyed.

You can make another color just by changing the dye you pour.

The technique of pouring dyeing is recognized as a traditional craft of Tokyo."

"I think there are always 500 to 600 products."

"The volume zone of Tenugui's price ranges from 1000 to 1200 yen.

Although it is manual, it is cotton, and 20 or 30 sheets can be dyed at once.

Because it can be mass-produced, the cost is also reduced.

There are also 800 yen for cheaper ones and 5,000 yen for higher ones.'

"The fact that there is no back and forth is a characteristic of pouring dyeing, but of course the letters are opposite.

In the Edo period, when I brought Tenugui to a public bath, it would not be smart unless the back was dyed.

At that time, there was no technique of pouring yet, so I had to dye the front and back.

After the Meiji era, the technique of dyeing was introduced, reaching the hands of the common people, and became popular for men. ]

Invitation (Onion)

It's called "onion," I learned for the first time.

I'll bring happiness to your room and shop.

It's a very fun item.

There was an invitation just before this, and it was a very sexy piece.

In the past, what was drawn as "power saving" seemed to be popular.

Home-use goodwill

"At the time of 1951, there were many housing complexes, and we proposed goodwill for such people, such as partitions, hiding cupboards, opening the entrance and not seeing the back of the house. It has been said.
