Blue Impulse in the sky of Tokyo
I saw it on the Chuo-ohashi Bridge, where the sky can be seen widely.
On May 29, the Air Self-Defense Force's acrobatic flight team Blue Impulse flew over Tokyo to pay tribute to healthcare professionals.
White smoke streaks that tease the blue sky spreading over the Sumida River
Despite the flight time and the course were announced on the day, children and office workers during lunch break were waiting to fly over Chuo-ohashi Bridge with cameras and smartphones. The sky is beautiful. In the meantime, the voice of the child, "I'm here!" Six stunning triangular formations flew while exhaling smoke.
After a while across the Sumida River, they turned left, and the blue impulse headed for the Sky Tree returned from the upstream again and sailed over the sky.
Blue Impulse is based on Matsushima Base in Miyagi Prefecture, but this day it flew from Iruma Base in Saitama Prefecture. It was the first flight in Tokyo in six years, but originally the flight at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games scheduled for July would have been the first flight in Tokyo in a long time.
It is famous for drawing the Olympics in the sky at the time of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, and at that time, this Olympics could be seen well from Chuo-ku. (It seems that I was 6 months old and saw it by my mother in front of my home. Of course, I don't remember…I can't see it because there are so many buildings now. This time, I felt like I could see it because the sky was open on the Sumida River. I feel sorry that there are many skyscrapers, but I can't see the sky.
In Chuo-ku, parks along the Sumida River and Super dike are the best places to refresh with the open sky. Nowadays, when I often stay at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, refreshment has become a daily routine for walking along the river. Walking on the right bank (west side, Chuo-ku side) in the morning and the left bank (east side, Tsukishima, Tsukudajima) in the evening, it is good to be able to worship precious sunrises and sunsets in the building district where there are many shades.
