 "Okamezakura" at Ajisai-dori St.

The early blooming Okamezakura of Nihonbashi Honmachi "Ajisai-dori St." announced the arrival of spring a little earlier this year and delighted the eyes.

Started in 2006 with 26 trees planted around Honmachi 1-chome, and now there are about 700m of cherry blossom trees in the entire area of Honmachi 1-4-chome and the ward border with Chiyoda-ku.

Okamezakura is said to have been created by a British cherry researcher by crossing Mamezakura and Kanhizakura, and is characterized by a single light red color and blooming in a downhill manner.

The name is said to have been named after "Okame", which is said to have been a beautiful woman in ancient times.

This year, the buds began to fall in early March, and the best time was around 10 days.
