[Excursion Series 28th] The beginning of Komaki-sha is now
Hello. This is Hanes, which has been updated for the first time in a long time.
The rainy season is over, and hot days continue every day, but are you all the changes?
I'm not good at summer, so I spend a lot of time at home naturally.
For this reason, this time, I would like to review the history of Chuo-ku with photos taken on the go when it was still cool.
This time, we will focus on Komaki-sha, which was considered in December last year, "Approaching the mystery of Ryunosuke Akutagawa's birthplace" Komaki-sha "".
In Chuo-ku, it is also known as a milk sales company managed by Toshizo Niihara, which was located at 8-chome Irifunecho, Kyobashi-ku (currently Akashicho) in the Meiji era, and as the birthplace of Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
Komakisha itself was introduced in that article that Eiichi Shibusawa started a ranch in Sengokuhara, Hakone with his friends in 1879.
Komaki-sha in Sengokuhara... Don't you bother me?
Now that interest in Eiichi Shibusawa is growing in Taiga drama series, what is the place that can be said to be the birthplace of Komakisha?
I went to the site when declaration of a state of emergency was not open, so I would be glad if you could read it as if you were taking a virtual walk.
The place is rich in nature, away from the main tourist destination of Hakone.
Let's take a look at the signboard of "Senishihara-Kojiri Nature Exploration Sidewalk" nearby.
The first impression of the surroundings is "green!" 。
Look for the mark of your current location, thinking that it is a perfect place for ranch management.
Then, isn't there a sign of "Komakisha Ruins" nearby?
In front of the birthplace of the company, which has a name in the history of Chuo-ku, we will proceed along the nature exploration sidewalk with excitement.
The road width is narrow for one car.
There is also a golf course along the way, so you can enjoy the green as much as you want.
On the map, it looked like it was right next to me, so I ran, but there was a surprisingly distance (laughs).
There is no remnant of the ranch at the site of Komaki-sha, but it can be confirmed on the information board that it existed.
You can see another information board in the back, so let's approach it.
As you can see from the photo below, the ranch scale at that time was about 700 hectares (7 square kilometers).
I can't imagine how large it feels instantly, so if you replace it with a number of Tokyo Dome, it's equivalent to about 150!
Still, it doesn't come out, so I'll compare it with Chuo-ku.
According to the Chuo-ku Pocket Guide (2020 Edition), the land area in Chuo-ku is 8.276 square kilometers, a total of 10.115 square kilometers.
In other words, it can be seen that the Komaki-sha in Sengokuhara was a little smaller than the land area of Chuo-ku.
In addition, he was convinced of the scale because he grazed 200 cows and 80 horses at his peak.
Read the explanation that `` sold milk, butter, beef, etc., which were rare at that time, and was pleased by foreigners who visited Hakone for summer heat '', `` The birthplace of the shoe industry '' near the Irifunebashi intersection and the above mentioned Some people may have been associated with Komakisha in Akashicho.
Even in Sengokuhara, there was demand from foreigners.
The more you know, the more interesting the Komaki-sha. I would like to continue to examine the history and business situation.
