The other day, when I was walking around Ginza for the first time in a long time, I found that the facade of Ginza Mitsukoshi, which had been under construction for a long time, was renewed. It was a very nice design, so I interviewed Ginza Mitsukoshi and told me about the background and design of the new facade.

Hironobu Shinohara, General Manager of General Affairs Division, Isetan Mitsukoshi Ginza Store, Mitsukoshi, Ltd., responded to the sudden interview.
RIEdel： It's been under construction all the time, so I was paying attention to what it would look like
Mr. Shinohara: Thank you very much. Originally, it was scheduled to be unveiled in early July before the Olympics, but it was delayed due to the effects of the new coronavirus, and it was finally possible to see it in August.
RIEdel： What was your intention to boldly change the part that can be said to be Ginza Mitsukoshi's face?
Mr. Shinohara: Actually, as a symbolic place in Ginza, the intersection of 4-chome is often reflected on TV, etc., but most of the camera is Mr. Wako (^^;) Therefore, we decided to change the design to a design suitable for Ginza, our longing town, and this "Ginza Chandelier" was born.
RIEdel： It's a really nice design. Have you been asked by a famous designer?
Mr. Shinohara: No, this design is actually an in-house recruitment. At first, I said, "I think it would be better to ask a famous designer.…"I thought secretly, but when I actually applied, there were quite a few employees of beauty college graduates, and very high-level designs came together. Eventually, Ginza Mitsukoshi's face became "Ginza Chandelier" at the decision of the president.
RIEdel： What an in-house recruitment! I'm surprised. Does chandelier mean that this shines at night?
Mr. Shinohara: Yes, LED lights are embedded in the chandelier part and glows. In addition, the design panel that surrounds the surrounding area also changes to beautiful colors. It is not lit because the day is still long now, but it will be lit up after November.
RIEdel： Wow, there's a nice light in Ginza in autumn. I'm looking forward to it.
Mr. Shinohara: Actually, it's going to be on TV tonight, and it's going to light up for a short time. If you have the timing, you may see it specially.
The lit-up "Ginza Chandelier" is open to the public.
That's why RIEdel, who was taught information from his ears, took a night standby at Ginza 4-chome, and photographed the wonderfully lit up "Ginza Chandelier" in the photo!
After November, when lighting up begins, the color will change depending on the season and time. I can't wait for autumn from now on.
