2020 Colorful Cosmos Field
In September, in the flower garden of about 3,000m2 in the Hamarikyu Onshi Garden, following the "Kibana Cosmos", which has been entertaining so far, the seeds were sown on June 18 in the adjacent section. The cosmos blooms in colorful colors, and there is a sign of autumn even during the harsh heat.
Cosmos is a general term for annual plants of the genus Asteraceae, and may also refer to the common cosmos "seeds". The Japanese name is Akisakura. It is said that it was native to Mexico and came to Japan during the Meiji period. The leaves are paired with two feather-shaped compound leaves that are finely split. The central tubular flower is yellow, the surrounding ligulate flower is usually eight, and the flower color is mainly pink, but white, red, yellow, orange, yellow, yellow, yellow, and compound colors are produced, and the petals are tubular or fringedouble-flowered. The etymology of cosmos is derived from the Greek word "kosmos", meaning "order", "harmony", and "space". It is said that it was named after the beautiful appearance of the petals arranged in order. It has a lovely petal with thin stems and leaves like cherry blossoms, and it is one of the autumn traditions that bloom in the wind.
