Hamarikyu Asahi Hall with Corona (Shakespeare ~ Women of Sorrow ~)

Because of the famous poetry monument of Takuboku in Ginza called "The Light of the Newspaper in Takiyama-cho in Kyobashi", some people may have the image of Ginza or Kyobashi when the Asahi Shimbun Tokyo headquarters was burned down in the Great Kanto Earthquake, and after the Yurakucho era (now Yurakucho era) 8 years later.

The Asahi Shimbun's Tokyo headquarters is Hamarikyu Asahi Hall.

The other day, I had a chance to see a theater in that hall for the first time in a long time, so I will report a little.

※The above image is on the official Facebook page of Hamarikyu Asahi Hall, which is synthesized with a part of the poster.

A hall with very good sound

Very sound Hall Hamarikyu Asahi Hall with Corona (Shakespeare ~ Women of Sorrow ~)

The play was all the time with piano accompaniment, but I was surprised at the good sound.

Hamarikyu Asahi Hall is a Shoo box (shoe box) type hall, but the shoebox type seems to have good sound in the first place.

The Vienna Alumni Association Hall, which is familiar every year at the New Year concert, is also a shoebox type.

Later, when I looked at the official website, among the 76 holes in 22 countries surveyed by the American Society of Acoustics in 1996, Hamarikyu Asahi Hall was regarded as "excellent" along with Carnegie Hall in New York. It seems to have been one of them.

(By the way, the alumni association hall was one of them, like the top three "Superior" holes.)

That's why I don't seem to be able to "watch theatre" here, and there are many classical concerts and recital on the calendar.

※What glows white in front of the stage is a portrait of Shakespeare on a tripod.

Shakespeare-the women of sorrow

Shakespeare-Women of Sorrow-Hamarikyu Asahi Hall with Corona (Shakespeare-Women of Sorrow-)

Of course, there is no Shakespeare's work called "Women of Sorrow". This drama (I write it as a play because it's Shakespeare) is a bit strange.

Desdemona of "Othello", Mrs. Macbeth of "Macbeth", and Offia of "Hamlet", cut out only the screaming part of the sorrow of three tragedy women, and put together in an omnibus format.

Pianist Takayuki Ezawa played songs related to each on the piano, while actress Seiko Tano and soprano singer Asako Tamura expressed the shouts of women in monologue and opera aria, respectively.

I feel it's difficult to play crazy alone, but I think it's a very difficult thing to play it alone.

And with Corona

And with Corona Hamarikyu Asahi Hall with Corona (Shakespeare ~ Women of Sorrow ~)

Nowadays, it is a common sight in any theater or movie theater, but it is mandatory to wear a mask, and alcohol disinfection and temperature measurement are performed when entering the museum, and the seats are arranged every one. In addition, in case of emergency, there were various considerations such as filling in contact information on the ticket stub (the one handed over to the organizer).

In the audience seats, Shakespeare posters were placed every other seat to open space between audiences. Rather than a wild display of "Don't sit" or "No seating", by putting a poster that looks like Shakespeare glaring slowly, anyone naturally thinks "I don't want to sit in such a place" It was a fashionable production.

What was a bit lonely was that after the stage was over, the interaction with the performers in the lobby was canceled this time. There must have been many people who wanted to thank them for their enthusiasm, but it is unavoidable.

This time, there was a 15-minute break during the intermission, but there was also an announcement that you should refrain from talking in the lobby. One of the pleasures of the theater is that there is a shogi impression battle where you can share your impressions with acquaintances, but it seemed to be fully after leaving the theater.

However, the most lonely thing may have been the organizer and the performers. Based on the assumption that the number of spectators will be small due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this performance was "one day only on October 7". You don't know if you don't calculate that it's a big deficit.

In terms of the result theory, despite the arrangement of each person, this performance was "full" enough to wait for a cancellation, so maybe it was better for a longer period. 。

Anyway, I just hope that the corona will converge as soon as possible and that the theater world will regain vitality.
