Since the Edo period, Tsukiji has a lion in each town and large store, and was known as the Tsukiji lion festival. Tensui bowls dedicated by husbands, praying for the safety of the lion head that survived the earthquake and war and only one pair remaining, and the Owari clan ship, are registered as private folk cultural properties in the ward. Today's square seaweed was born in the Edo period. When the area around Asakusa was still inlets, fishermen began to find seaweed that can be naturally formed at low tide. After that, it began to be cultivated in Shinagawa, Omori, Haneda, and Chiba Prefecture. Speaking of "Asakusa laver", it was the finest blue-purple color and was very popular in Edo city.
