Hatoido 1663
I went shopping at Hatoido, which is famous nationwide in Ginza 5-chome.
A booklet called "Kori" received at the shop. I introduce you to incense stick, Nenka, Inka, and incense.
And we explain the history of the shop. (Hereinafter referred to as the original text)
Hatoi-do was born in Teramachi, Kyoto in 1663 (Edo, 1663), more than 350 years ago.
At the beginning of the company, the company was engaged in a “medicine dealer” that handles Chinese herbal medicines and raw materials for medicine, but since many of the drugs overlapped with the raw materials of incense, we later began manufacturing and selling Kaoruka incense stick.
It was in 1877 (Meiji 10) that Hatoido's incense production technology made dramatic progress. In recognition of his contributions to community service and national affairs conducted by successive owners, Sanetomi Sanjo, then Minister of State at the time, taught all the secrets of Naka, which has been passed down only in the Imperial Court since the Heian period. Was. Even now, only our shop has carefully preserved and handed down the incense method given at this time as a secret method of Ichiko-do, and its technology has been fully utilized in today's fragrance creation of Hatoi-do.
Many incense products made by Hatoido are characterized by gentle and deep scents based on high-quality natural fragrances. "Traditional scent" has been handed down by long-established incense holders through research and refinement for hundreds of years. I would appreciate it if you could use it for a long time.

Since it was necessary to work for the palace, we opened a wooden one-story building (the first building built by a foreigner in the early Meiji era) in Ginza Owaricho (currently Ginza 5-chome).

The numbers displayed on both sides of the entrance in front of the shop were the year to commemorate the important history.
