Senso-ji Temple "The Nineth Danjuro Ichikawa Statue-Temporary" and Hamacho Ryokudo "The Benkei Statue of Kanjincho"

Hamacho in Chuo-ku, which is also the birthplace of Edo Kabuki, and Asakusa in Taito-ku, which moved after it. I would like to introduce two statues of Kabuki actors.

Founded in 628 (Emperor Suko period), Senso-ji Temple has a statue inspired by Danjuro Ichikawa (1838-1903), a kabuki actor who was active from the late Edo period to the Meiji era (1919). The theme is Kabuki "temporary" based on the historical fact of traditional style beauty.

There is a statue of Benkei Musashibo in the Kanjin Book on Hamacho Ryokudo, which retains the remnants of the Hamacho River along amazake Yokocho, which runs from Ningyocho-dori to Meijiza. In the early Edo period, there were many playhouses such as Ichimura-za, Nakamura-za and Joruri in Kabuki. Kanjincho is the subject of Kabuki eighteenth.

A picture on the back of Senso-ji Temple main hall is a standing statue with a pedestal about 4 meters high in the parking lot on the west side of Shin-Okuyama. The ninth-generation Danjuro Ichikawa statue stands for a while.

Danjuro Ichikawa, the second generation of the Edo period, established an art that captures the bold and rough movements called Arashi as a highlight, and laid the foundation of the Danjuro Ichikawa family. It is a famous spot of the Ichikawa family. Danjuro Ichikawa, the ninth generation, was a Kabuki actor who played an active part from the late Edo period to the Meiji era. Taking into account the evidence and direction based on traditional style beauty and historical facts, the modernization of Kabuki, and the achievement of increasing the value of Kabuki as an entertainment for the common people of Edo as a unique Japanese culture with artistry I am known.

Speaking of the ninth generation, he is a person who plays an important role in the history of Kabuki so that it is said to refer to the ninth Danjuro Ichikawa. It has a "glimpse" effect as if you were looking at the surroundings.

In addition, the famous traces of Danjuro had been discontinued for a while after the 12th generation died, but it was announced that the 11th generation Ebizo Ichikawa, the 11th generation Danjuro Ichikawa, Hakuho will be named in 2020. Was. It has been postponed due to COVID-19.

This name has attracted the great expectations of Kabuki fans.

"Tential," The protagonist of the Kamakura Gongoro Kagemasa is a historical fact that he imitates Hira Kagemasa, a late Heian warlord, and in order to defeat evil, when he suddenly appears, he shouts "temporarily" and is synonymous with Danjuro. I cut out the scene that makes it work.

This is due to the fact that the ninth generation performed "temporary", which had no special casting in the Edo period, as an independent story (a whole area), which became a popular performance.

The current statue was rebuilt in 1986 by Danjuro Ichikawa in 1986, and the first statue was created and erected in 1919 by the sculptor Taketaro Shinkai in 1919, but has been lost due to metal delivery from World War II.

Yoshitsune and Benkei, who were chased by Yoritomo and disguised as mountain ascetic hermit and fell toward Dewa. The country of Kaga, Togashi of Mamoru Seki of "Ataka no Seki", blames this and interrogates. Benkei reads out a blank book, saying that it is a recommendation to rebuild the Great Buddha of Todaiji Temple destroyed by the rebellion of the Jisho era. Togashi realized that he was a member of the Yoshitsune, but he looked at the heart of his servant and missed passing through checkpoint with tears of sympathy.

350 years ago, there was a town called Ashiya-cho and Sakaimachi around Ningyocho, and there was a playhouse in Edo Sanza where Ichimura-za and Nakamura-za performed Kabuki. There was also a puppet hut by Joruri, and the puppeteers who made and repaired the puppets lived around here and engaged in doll work and doll sales. This is said to be the name of Ningyocho, and the neighborhood of Ningyocho was thriving in commerce and gaining popularity among the common people.

Since the Meiji era, there have been Meijiza and Masago-za in Hamacho. 1873 As a Kishoza in 1873, the name changed to Chitoseza and Hisamatsu-za while repeated burning and rebuilding, and in 1893 the first Sadanji Ichikawa acquired and became the current Meijiza. After that, it was rebuilt after the Great Tokyo Earthquake and the Great Tokyo Air Raid, and Meijiza continues the history of theater culture in this area.

At the time of its establishment, it was a checkpoint-style submerged gate on the middle street of Hamacho Ryokudo, located between Nihonbashi Ningyocho 2-chome and Nihonbashi Hamacho 2-chome. It has not been removed now.

Hamacho Green Road (reclamated in 1974 and turned into a green belt) is the site of the Hamacho River, separated from the Kanda River on the Kanda Sakuma Riverbank of Chiyoda-ku, Chiyoda-ku, and interacted with the Okawa (Sumida River) near the downstream of Kiyosu Bridge. It was a canal (1615-23 years) that was dug as an artificial canal (1) that was constructed as an artificially constructed as an artificially constructed with a waterway that was crowded with goods transport channel. More than 30 kinds of trees are planted on the green road where the remnants remain, and in the spring cherry blossoms bloom and the cherry blossom festival is held. Yoshino cherry tree and Oshima cherry blossoms are beautiful. By all means, I hope you will come in spring.
