2020 Hasenoki Autumn Leaves
Hasenoki is a deciduous Takagi of the family Araceae and is also called Rowoki. It is said to be native to Indochina, China, and came through Ryukyu, so it is also called Ryukyuhaze. Today, it is thought that what was found in the mountains of Japan was planted to collect wood wax, which is the raw material for Japanese candles. The leaves are odd feathered compound leaves composed of 4 to 6 pairs of small leaves, which are dioecious. There is a time when the leaves that fall foliage and the leaves that leave green are mixed, and as the leaves progress, the green color gradually changes from a slightly modest green color to a bright red red color. Hazemomiji, which beautifully turns red in the world of Haiku, is called Hazemomiji, and is counted as one of the seasonal words of autumn. Fruits are collected by birds as high calorie food and contribute to seed spraying.
In the Hamarikyu Onshi Garden, Hakkeiyama on the shore of the "tidal pond (Oizumi)" pond and the gozenoki planted on Mt. Ochin are at their best and attract visitors. In particular, the bright red color of the feather compound leaves that can be seen in the backlight has a vivid impression.
