UNPEL GALLERY

The MS&AD Insurance Group's Aioi Nissay Dowa Generals Ins. has opened a gallery on December 15, 2020 at the Yaesu Building (Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) to display artworks as a project commemorating the 10th anniversary of its founding. The company will use it as a base for mecena (support for arts and culture) activities for the succession and development of Japanese culture and arts.

The company has about 300 works, including Japanese painting, Western paintings, and crafts, with the theme of camellia because the founder of Dai-Tokyo Fire and Marine Insurance, one of its predecessors, loved camellia and made it a company flower. For a quarter of a century, we have contributed to the promotion of local culture and arts by lending the works we hold to museums nationwide free of charge.

As the company celebrates its 10th anniversary, the company has opened a gallery named UNPEL GALLERY as a place that is widely open to viewers in order to promote regional revitalization through the implementation of projects linked to local universities, as well as providing a place for presentations to young Japanese painters.

Address: Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Yaesu Building 1F, 3-1-6 Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

The name is derived from the theme of the work owned by the company, "UNPRETENTIOUS ELEGANCE", the flower language of "Tsubaki", "UNPRETENTIOUS ELEGANCE", aiming for a high-quality exhibition, and wishing many people to visit casually.

To commemorate the opening of UNPEL GALLERY, the company's "Tsubaki Painting Collection Exhibition" is being held. In the first half of the exhibition, the exhibition mainly focuses on original drawings such as Taikan Yokoyama and Yuki Ogura, which drew both buds and large flowers. In the latter half, camellia paintings drawn by modern individual painters such as Kourin Ogata, Yumeji Takehisa, and Ryusei Kishida from the Edo period are lined up.

In Chuo-ku, there is a street nicknamed "Hanatsubaki-dori", and it is not necessary to explain the fact that the symbol of Shiseido Co., Ltd. is "Hanatsubaki". In addition, there is the site of the "Minatoya Ezo Soko Store" opened by Yumeji Takehisa, who left many paintings depicting camellia (Yaesu 1-2-1). In addition to these, I would like to congratulate you on the addition of new facilities related to Tsubaki.

In addition, Kosei (CAM) is a person who really loves camellia flowers, and the handle name "CAM" is the first three letters of "Camellia".
