In the past, Yoshicho was a flower district full of the sound of the shamisen, the geishas who come and go. The times go back further, but there was a play town that lasted for about 200 years, and it was crowded with many huts such as Kabuki Nakamuraza, Ichimuraza, Joruriza and Ningyoza. Even after the playhouse moved to Asakusa, the people of Yoshicho listened to the actors, and the daughters went to dance and practice shamisen, held a review party among the residents and refined the arts.
It was in 1927 that the building of the geisha's house in Yoshicho became "Yoshiume". When you open the glass shoji on the second floor of a building where the former actress of Kagurazaka Geisha, Kogiku Hanayagi, once lived, and look down on "Geisha Shindo", it looks as if you could see the scenery. Four times a year, "Yoshiume" is the stage of traditional performing arts.
Yoshiume invites top performers such as Otome Literature (Bunraku who manipulates dolls by himself), rakugo, ghost stories, talks, koto, Tsugaru shamisen about four times a year.
