~ Tokai Inari Shrine [Remains] ~
This is a rosemary sea that covers "gifts and enjoy yourself" with accessibility.
In the third installment of the "Tour of shrines with a quiet appearance around Kayabacho Station and Hatchobori Station" series, we will introduce Tokai Inari Shrine [Remains].
Then...
In front of "Eitai Bridge", next to the stone monument of "Shinkawa Ruins" ...
Even if you look at the image at the beginning, you can't see it as a "shrine" or "shrine site".
Until a few years ago, the company name of "Tokai Inari Shrine" was listed, but now there is no one, only the signboard of "Shinkawa 1-chome Azumacho Association Office".
It seems to be a concurrent company of Fukagawa Inari Shrine.
first enshrinement in the first year of Hoei (1704).
Since this was a dock, it seems that it came to be called "Watakai".
・・・ "Tokai Inari Shrine" is limited to this point.
Thank you very much, I would like to introduce "Eitai Bridge" and "Shinkawa Ruins".
Eitai Bridge
<Bright and robust steel arch bridge>
It is said that the first bridge was built in Genroku 11 (1698) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tokugawa 5th Shogun Tsunayoshi, and was about 150m upstream from the current bridge position.
Since then, it has been replaced several times, and in 1926, it was replaced with the current bridge as part of the earthquake disaster reconstruction project.
The heavy and robust appearance can be described as masculine.
-From Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia - you can see by walking
Ruins of Shinkawa (After Shinkawa)
Shinkawa was a canal that branches off from the Kamejima River between the current Shinkawa 1-3 and 4 and joins the Sumida River near this monument.
The scale was about 590m in length and the width of the river was about 11m to about 16m, and there were narrow and wide areas, and there were three bridges from the west: one bridge, two bridges, and three bridges.
It is said that this Shinkawa was opened in 1660 by the Australian merchant Zuiken Kawamura in order to facilitate the landing of goods transported from various countries to Edo by boat. It is reported that Ruiken had a mansion in Kitazume.
At that time, the first one was lined with many sake wholesalers, and the scenery of sake brewery lined up along the banks was depicted in numerous sashimi and ukiyo-e.
In 1948, Shinkawa was reclaimed, but in order to pass on the achievements of Ruiken to future generations, a "Shinkawa Monument" was erected by the Shinkawa Historic Site Preservation Society in 1953. Was.
This time, I will show you the Edo classical rakugo.
We have reached the 30th anniversary.
This time, as the name implies, we will introduce "Eitai Bridge".
The "bridge collapse accident" depicted is non-fiction in itself.
It was the fourth year of culture (1807).
In other stories, Eitai Bridge is set at the Tsukuda Festival.
<Preliminary confirmation corner>
There is a large number of people.
Even though there are many opponents, there is no win even if you go with a small number of people.
"Eitai Bridge"
The second-hand clothing store Taibei in Okachimachi and his cohabitant Takebei are both very quiet people.
One day Takebei went to a festival in Fukagawa Hachiman.
There is a lot of people near Eitai Bridge on the way.
Takebei is stolen from a paper wallet (purse) in the crowd, so-called "suri".
I can't help but meet acquaintances trying to return home and feast at Hatchobori's house.
In the meantime, the outside becomes noisy.
It is said that the Eitai Bridge fell and many dead people came out.
Takebei stays there that night and meets Taibei on the way home the next morning.
Calling from above, he came to pick up the dead body of Takebei who died in the Eitai Bridge accident.
The two face the dead body of Takebei at the accident site.
Taibei "Take over and give out a funeral."
Takebei: "I don't feel dead, I don't like it, and I don't want to have a funeral myself."
Tabei "Learn what I say," says Takebei's head.
They begin to fight.
An official came.
"It's a different person to say that a pickpocket who put a paper box from Takebei died in the Eitai Bridge accident, and that Takebei died from the paper box."
"Takebei, that person is not enemy to Taibei, Taibei (Taisei) and Takebei (Never) is not enemy."
