Reborn Joban Bridge!

The other day, when I was reading a newspaper, I saw an article about "Jobanbashi".

It was news that the restoration work of Tokiwa Bridge was completed.

Well, nine years later than that Great East Japan Earthquake, I decided to go there right away.

Speaking of the Tokiwa Bridge neighborhood, it is also attracting attention from all over Japan.

There is a bronze statue of Eiichi Shibusawa, which was decided to be adopted in the portrait of the new 10,000 yen bill from 2024, and it is also the construction site of the torch tower scheduled to be completed in 2027.

Also, it may be that Nihonbashi, which is nearby, has regained the deep blue sky several years ahead.

(I was able to confirm that Eiichi Shibusawa is facing Daiichi National Bank (Kabuto-cho area).)

The restoration of the bridge was completed last fall, but it is necessary to restore Tokiwa Bridge Park.

There was no temporary enclosure. However, from the side, I was able to see the whole bridge.

First of all, what came into my eyes was the whiteness of the main pillar marble.

If you've seen Jobanbashi before, don't you think so?

I frankly felt that it was "bright and clean."

The main pillar has a roof-like object, shaped like a lantern, and looks like a Blending of Japanese and Western elements style. It seems that cast handrails were reproduced as if they were founded by referring to ukiyo-e and photographs.

In the middle of the double stone bridge, draining stones were beautifully reproduced. By the way, there was no drainage stone left in the upstream part of Jobanbashi before the disaster. Removing the draining stone during this restoration work

That's right. In the lower part, there is an original stone material that remains from the early Meiji era, and it is said that a drain stone was restored on top of it.

Then, on the lower left bank of Jobanbashi (Chuo-ku side), it is not a dock like before, but a fine place.

"Nihonbashi River Tokiwa Bridge Disaster Pier" was also renewed.

And the main building of the Bank of Japan head office is located in front of Jobanbashi.

It seems that it will be possible to pass in mid-April.‼
