Komura Yukidai - From the best of Edo to Tokyo Modern
Earlier, I saw a picture of Komura Yukidai at an art house in Shiseido in Kakegawa City. It was a work that felt the nostalgia like Ukiyo-e, the beauty of delicate lines, and Edo. When I looked it up, I was a painter closely related to Chuo-ku, and from 1917 to 2012, I was enrolled in the Shiseido Design Department and worked on Japanese-style designs with bindings and illustrations for "Ginza", "Hanatsubaki", and "Makeup". Was.
In addition, the ongoing <Shiseido character> (somewhat vertical, thin horizontal lines and inexpensive typeface) is the work that Yukidai brought in and left.
As a binding agent
I designed many Kyoka's works, including Kyoka Izumi's Nihonbashi. It's the cover of "Nihonbashi" Originally, Yukidai loved Kyoka's work, and the painting title "Snowdai" was given by Kyoka.
He is also active in illustrations and stage art
In addition to working on illustrations for the period novel "Osen" serialized in newspapers by Kanji Kunieda, he also drew a huge number of illustrations in newspapers and magazines. It is also connected to Chuo-ku that the paper used for the illustrations was thin Mino paper specially made by Nihonbashi Haibara.
The success of Yukidai has further expanded, and at the request of the thirteenth generation Kanya Morita, he began to work on stage equipment, and there are 200 stage performances of famous actors such as Utaemon Nakamura and Kikugoro Onoe, the sixth generation.
