The view of Hiroshige Autumn
"Famous Edo Hundred Views Kyobashi Takegashi" depicts the scenery of Akizuki.
From the outer moat of Edo Castle to Edo Bay in the east, it was excavated as a passing boat moat, and the bridge that the Tokaido crosses this river was called Kyobashi. The Kyobashi Bridge was built by the Edo Shogunate, and was a prestigious bridge with a jewel-shaped decoration "giboshi" on the main pillar.
It is a place of goods collection and distribution by water transportation of the Kyobashi River, and many bamboo merchants gathered on the east bank of Kyobashi Kitazume, and a bamboo bank was set up. In Ukiyo-e, you can see the calm appearance of the bamboo shingle illuminated by the moonlight.
At present, the main pillar of the bridge is left as a monument, and the Tokyo Kosoku Doro covers the area where the river was flowing. You can see the positional relationship between the former Kyobashi and Kyobashi rivers.
