In the next few years, there is no name "Continuation of Sakura-dori St."
The cherry blossom season has come again this year.
There are many cherry blossom spots in Chuo-ku, but one of the spots where you can enjoy the amount is Sakura-dori St. in Yaesu and Nihonbashi.
Every spring, the row of cherry blossom trees on Sakura-dori St. has been entertained by many people, including those who work in nearby office areas and those who go shopping from Tokyo Station toward Nihonbashi.
One day suddenly…!
However, around February of last year (2020), a shocking sight appeared in front of me who was walking on Sakura-dori St.
…How, half of the cherry blossoms on the Yaesu side of Sakura-dori St. disappeared without knowing! It is presumed that it was removed because it would hinder the construction of the "Tokyo Station Yaesu 1-chome East District Type 1 Urban Redevelopment Project", which is being promoted on the south side of Sakura-dori St.
At present, Sakura-dori St. is shown in the photo on the left. It was taken at an angle close to the first photo, but you can see that the scenery is completely different just by eliminating the rows of trees.
For a while after the row of trees has disappeared, that? Are you lost? It is often misunderstood that…。 The cherry trees planted have been transplanted somewhere and may come back someday.…I just wish.
Cherry Blossom Tunnel on the east side
That's why I don't seem to go to Sakura-dori St. for the next few years to enjoy spring, but there is a recommended way to enjoy it.
It is to enjoy a row of cherry blossom trees further east of Chuo-dori.
As explained in an easy-to-understand manner in the past, a row of cherry blossom trees was planted on Sakura-dori St. from Sotobori-dori St. to Chuo-dori in 1936. This row of trees was burned by the war, but it was re-planted in 1956 (Showa 31) after the war, and at that time it seemed to have been extended to the east side of Chuo-dori.
Due to such circumstances, the nickname of "Sakura-dori St." ends from Sotobori-dori St. to Chuo-dori, but the extended part of the east without name has been more than 60 years since tree planting, and many sections A fine cherry blossom tunnel has been completed.
Perfect for quiet cherry blossom viewing!
This row of cherry blossom trees continues to the vicinity of Shin-Kamejima Bridge, which faces Reigishi Island.
The distance from Yaesu is close to 1 km, making it a very satisfying and walking spot.
Collaboration with "Takashimaya Main Building" along the roadside is also wonderful.
It's hard to go out with the extension of infection status and declaration of a state of emergency in COVID-19 that don't fit in the middle.
When you drop in nearby, please enjoy the cherry blossom viewing quietly on the unnamed "Sakura-dori St."!
