Architecture in Chuo-ku (5) Dentsu Ginza Building

Dentsu Ginza Building (Ginza 7-4-17) was established in 1933 as the head office building of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, the predecessor of Dentsu.

This is the Yokogawa Works (Director Tamisuke Yokogawa), who worked on the Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store and the former Imperial Theater.

Modernism architecture in the early Showa period.  Glass blocks are placed on the outer wall of the first floor based on stone pasting.

The upper floors of the second floor and above are the Chicago window (a large window with up and down windows on the left and right), which is characterized by deep green tile exterior walls.

At the time of completion, the company's business development is expected, and communication facilities such as dedicated telephone lines and photo transmission facilities between Tokyo and Fukuoka will be installed inside the company building.

The head office building in Ginza has been expanding Dentsu for 34 years until the head office was transferred to Tsuijishin in 1967 (1967).

The star-shaped mark on the wall above the entrance is derived from the name of Dentsu founder Hoshio Mitsunaga.

It was also the company emblem of Dentsu.

In addition, reliefs are engraved on the left and right of this mark.

The left of the photo is the Kichijoten statue, which is said to be the goddess that bring wealth, prosperity and fertility.

The right is the statue of Hirometen.  It has a brush in the right hand and a scroll in the left hand, and is said to be "a god who can see the distance of Chisato".

The outer walls of the second floor and above are lined with small deep green tiles and horizontal Chicago windows.

The corner of the corner where Sotobori-dori St. and Kojunsha Street intersect is a curved wall of stone pasted and glass blocks.
