Hamacho and Kiyomasa Koji Temple and Kumamoto Honmyoji Temple
In a corner of Hamacho Park, there is Kiyomasa Koji Temple. Kiyomasa Koji Temple was founded in 1861 (1861) by Hosokawa feudal lord Narimori Hosokawa, calling for the spirit of Kato Kiyomasa, enshrined at Honmyoji Temple in Kumamoto, in Shimoyashiki.
This time, I went to Honmyoji because I had a business trip to Kumamoto because I had a business trip.
Take the tram from Kumamoto Station on the JR Kyushu Shinkansen, transfer at Karashimacho, and get off at Honmyoji Entrance. From there, we will walk towards the mountains. There are many temples on the approach to the shrine. There is a statue of Prince Kato Kiyomasa on the stone steps further from Honmyoji Temple.
Kiyomasa carried out a number of civil engineering projects for the rule of the clan. It is still respected and loved by the citizens of Kumamoto as "Seishoko-san".
It is a place far from Chuo-ku, but it was a good opportunity to think about during the Edo period.
