"Sakamotocho" In memory of the name
[Sakamoto Elementary School] located in Kabuto-cho, Chuo-ku is a venerable school that was founded in 1873 as "1st Elementary School Sakamoto School in Daiichi University District Daiichi Junior High School District". It is said to be the site of the former Kumamoto feudal lord Hosokawa family. The place name at that time was "Sakamoto-cho", so it was named so, but why did "Sakamoto" change to "Sakamoto"? I think it was meaningful to be responsible for the auspicious words. It was only in the Meiji era that Osaka changed to Osaka.
Also, [Sakamotocho Park] is a place to relax in the area that still retains the place name at that time. The park has the Kabuto-cho and Kayabacho Machikado Exhibition Hall, where you can see local portable shrine, floats, and festival-related exhibits.
Actually, the place name "Sakamoto" comes from is related to the Hie-jinja Shrine auxiliary shrine in this area. The main shrine of Hie-jinja Shrine is Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine located in Sakamoto, Oomi (Shiga Prefecture). It is a historic shrine that was closely related to Mt. Hiei during the time of mixed Shinto and Buddha. By the way, both "Hiyoshi" and "Hie" have the same etymology.
Since it is a town developed on the approach to Hie-jinja Shrine in the middle of Edo, it was named "Sakamoto" after its original place name. Unfortunately, it was gathered by Kabuto-cho in the early Showa era and disappeared as the name of the town.
The other day, I visited Sakamoto in Oomi. It's a very elegant and quaint town. From the old days, I remembered the connection with the land with a connection, and I felt rich.
