Architecture in Chuo-ku (6) Nisshokan

Nisshokan (1-10 Nihonbashi Kabutocho, Chuo-ku) is a large building located along the Nihonbashi River on the north side of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Eiichi Shibusawa's residence was built in 1888 (1888) and used as a home or office.

Damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake, the current Nisshokan was built by Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1928 (1928).

A 7-story steel reinforced concrete structure, a classic three-layer structure, a large stone stick on the base, and large and small arch windows lined up.

It has a solid appearance.

Designed by Yokogawa Works (Director Tamisuke Yokogawa).

In 1946, the stock exchange building was requisitioned by the U.S. military in 1946, so exchange trading was replaced for about three years.

A group transaction has been conducted at the Nisshokan, and since the end of World War II, it has become a building with a maximum of 35 securities companies.

I have been responsible for the history of the securities industry.

(Currently, Peace Real Estate owns this building.)
