A world that begins with waste materials and scraps

There is a small museum in the corner of the 4th floor of the Nihonbashi Takashimaya Main Building. Correspondents also introduced an exhibition of "Decoratives" on the Tourism Association correspondent blog.

This time, I have seen "Creative Reuse" to commemorate the 190th anniversary of Takashimaya's founding, but I have never seen it. It is exhibited under the theme of reuse.

What is Creative Reuse?

This is to carefully classify and organize waste materials and scraps that come out in the process of production, distribution, and consumption, and use them as materials to make new use of them.

IDEA R LAB, the first base in Japan, opened by museum education planner Hiroko Otsuki after renovating an old private house, is located in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, and is spreading throughout the country through workshops and other activities.

I've seen it, but I've never seen it.

The delicate beauty of the discarded light bulb becomes an insect accessory. I'm going to fly.

It is a bag that the zipper has been reborn. It is popular because the fun of shapes and colors, such as pouches and accessories, is used for various things.

Collect the stuffed animals and sew them into such a cute chair.

What I've seen is a collection of waste materials and scrap materials that can't be used alone. What I have never seen is the appearance of being born into something else by combining and connecting them.

A new relationship between things and people

Japanese people have always been good at using tools as something and using them for other purposes. When I looked at the beautifully sorted materials, such DNA was stimulated, and suddenly I picked it up and felt that I could make something myself.

Mr. Mio Hiyoshi of Takashimaya Museum TOKYO, thank you for teaching me various things.
