Harumi Konjaku Monogatari (2) Back to 1994-Harumi of Before Triton Age

As the first installment of the story of Harumi Konjaku, last time we introduced the history of Harumi Bridge and Harumi.
During the survey process, I discovered a fun material called "Harumi Illustration Map", so this time I would like to approach Harumi around 1994 before Triton Square was created based on that map.

About Harumi illustration map

The Harumi Illustration Map is a B3 large map that expresses the state of the Harumi area around 1994 by hand-drawn illustrations.
It was issued in November 1994 by the "Harumi Improvement Association", which was established to promote community development by local landowners themselves.

Overview of "Harumi Illustration Map" (Planning / Publishing: Association to Improve Harumi)

Looking at the map in detail, there were a number of fun discoveries, saying, "Oh, did you have such a building before?" "Hey, the land here used to be used like that in the past." Let's introduce in order from the right side of the map.

What was in the place of Harumi Triton Square…?

The most Aiko Nic building in the current Harumi area is definitely Harumi Triton Square. What was there before that building was built?
If you look at the corresponding part of the map, the north side (right side) of Reimei Bridge, the word "Koyama Driving School" jumps into your eyes along with the illustration of the car. Hoh, was there a driving school here?
Turning my eyes under it, I found several whitish rectangles. It is a famous "Harumi High-Rise Apartment" designed by Kunio Maekawa. From this illustration map, it can be seen that it was built considerably more slowly than the land area.

(1) Triton built on the site of a driving school, public housing, etc.
(2) An apartment building that still stands on the northeast side of Triton

The Harumi high-rise apartment designed by Kunio Maekawa was dismantled in 1997, but memories at that time are still left in Harumi Daiichi Park.
The handrails and panels used in the Harumi High-rise apartment are quietly installed behind the bench. From the rounded corners of the handrails, you can feel the politeness of work and the brightness unique to the period of high economic growth.

It was located on the north side of the Harumi Canal (Harumi Wharf).…?

What kind of building was there on the north side along the Harumi Canal in the lower right area of the illustration map? And looked at him…

(1) The place where HARUMI Dome 21 and others were built
(2) Site of Chichibu Onoda (Harumi Onoda Remikon)

Are you sure? There is a mysterious building called "HARUMI Dome 21" near the right wing of seagull in the illustration. According to the description on the map, it was an information dissemination base centered on architecture, houses and cities. At the time of 1994, it was surprising that there was something like a dome besides Harumi 5-chome.
Looking below the HARUMI Dome 21, there is a tropical resort-like space with white chairs and palm trees lined up in the parasols. It seems that there used to be a seafood restaurant called "Pia Harumi" here. It was said that there was such a nice restaurant in Harumi, which had poor access when Kachidoki Station was not yet established.…。 Well, it's a bubble.
Now, tower apartments are lined up in the same place, and a pleasant waterside terrace is spreading along the canal.
The round cylindrical objects at the bottom right of the map are Chichibu Onoda (Harumi Onoda Remikon), a cement company, lined up. Many people may remember the factory, which is characterized by a long pipe like that Takashi crab. It was closed on December 26, 2014 due to the completion of a new plant in Shinonome, Koto-ku.

Harumi 3-chome and 4-chome, where Harumi before the 1990s remained strong.

Harumi-dori St., which runs vertically along the illustration map, and around Harumi 3-chome and 4-chome on the left side, there are still buildings that you can see.

(1) The Kamaboko-style warehouse lined up along the Harumi Wharf is still there.…
(2) The white building on the right back is the Ema Tada Building, and the low beige building on the left is the Tokyo Bonitobushi Center.

For example, comparing the figure of the warehouse group on the Harumi Wharf side with the current situation, it can be seen that the Kamaboko-type warehouse and the Suzue-gumi warehouse next to it have not changed since 1994.
In addition, the tall Mariners Court Hotel with the number "22" on the map, and the buildings of Tokyo Post Office, Tokyo Customs, and NTT Harumi on the right side are different in names and ways they are used, but all the buildings remain as they are.
In the area above the map (Harumi 3-chome), the three buildings shown in the illustration (Tada Ema, Tokyo Bonitobushi Center, Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine Harumi Branch) are still used today.
The site of Nissan Motor Sales has been operating as an alternative to the Harumi Wharf Bus Terminal during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It was built at Harumi 5-chome, where the athlete village of the Tokyo 2020 Games is located.…?

By the way, it is finally Harumi 5-chome, the area from the mouth of the Harumi Canal.
There are many people who remember what happened here. Yes, it was the "Tokyo International Trade Fair Venue" (commonly known as the "Harumi Trade Fair Venue") where large international events such as the Tokyo Motor Show were held.

(1) The dome (East Building) in the eastern area was commonly known as the "Gamerakan".
(2) Of course, the Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal is located on the southernmost side of Harumi 5-chome (Tokyo Bay side).

At the Tokyo International Trade Fair, completed in 1959, the Tokyo Motor Show was held 22 times in a row from the 6th to the 27th.
In the round dome (East Building) in the center of the illustration map, new cars developed by automakers gathered the best of technology are lined up in a row to attract car lovers all over Japan. In addition to exhibitions, the dome was used as a skating rink until the early 1970s.
Looking at the map, in the upper left (southwest corner), there is the word "Mizugami Bus Departure". It is said that a water bus from Takeshiba to Harumi was operated to make it easy to access from the city center. At the place where the water bus departure and arrival point was located, the main station of the harbor fire department is currently built.

At the southernmost tip of Harumi Wharf is the Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal, as you can see from the illustration of a large ship. At the time of 1994, a restaurant called "May Kiss" and a coffee shop called "Bonboyaji" were open in the terminal.
Overlooking the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower, it was famous as one of the best night views spots in Tokyo, but it has been decided to be dismantled after the Tokyo 2020 Games due to aging facilities and difficulties in responding to the demand for larger passenger ships.

Oh, sir. In the past, Harumi had a tag.

The illustration map I referred to this time was not only fun to see, but also often surprised by reading the text information posted.
In the "Do you know?" Corner, it is clearly stated that a part of Harumi 5-chome was used as an airfield for postwar troops.

Harumi Konjaku Monogatari (2) Back to 1994-Harumi of Before Triton Age

Yeah, this might be a bit…?

Oh, an airfield in Harumi?
So, did you mean that a part of that wide road (Tokyo Route 304) running north and south in the Harumi area was a runway? Oh, wait a moment. Also, if I didn't look up Harumi from the first, I felt sick.…。
Oh, Harumi is deep.
