The Art Aquarium Museum in Nihonbashi, Tokyo will soon celebrate its 1st anniversary. Various art works with goldfish motifs are exhibited, and the bold design is always amazed.
Especially in this hot season, it seems that visitors will be healed by the sound of cool water and the appearance of goldfish swimming elegantly.
However, I enjoy the exhibition about Noh here than such goldfish art. First of all, it is the mirror plate of the [Oimatsu area] on the second floor. The historic Noh theater of the Edo period is set up beside the lounge to enjoy the traditional mood. Eating here or tilting a cocktail makes you feel very elegant.

On both sides of the stairs from the first floor to the second floor, there are 120 Ukiyo-e paintings depicting a famous scene of Noh called "Noh Hyakuban". This is a work of ukiyo-e artist, Kogyo Tsukioka, who was active in the Meiji and Taisho eras. It's so powerful that you can't see everything, but just looking at some pictures that are noticeable you can enjoy the mysterious atmosphere of Noh.
If you have experience watching Noh, it would be a pleasure to look for the performances you saw.

On the second floor, there is "84 Noh masks", which are framed so that you can list the miniature Noh masks. This was once housed at the Osaka Noh Kaikan. It was handed over when the museum closed in 2017. It's nice to be able to see the various aspects used in Noh at once. You can think of the world of Noh while checking each expression.
In general, there are many people who visit for goldfish, but in fact, I introduced it because there is such an attraction. Please take a closer look when you visit.
