Hanes

A behind-the-scenes player who supports Chuo-ku and transforms Chuo-ku
~ Town development to see on benches and stools ~

Hello. Because of lack of exercise, this fall is Hanes who want to make this fall a sports fall.
So far, we have introduced recommended running courses (Sumida River, Tsukuda) and cycling routes in Chuo-ku, but at that time, the bench is nice if you are on the course route!
I want to have time to sit down and enjoy the scenery of the city, not to mention a break.

It was a while ago, but when I was running lightly near Tokyo Square Garden, I found the bench in the top photo.
This sticker was affixed to it.

So, what is "TOKYO BENCH PROJECT"?
According to this sticker, benches connecting people, towns, and art will be installed at four venues of the Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021 to create everyday scenes where people live in that area.

In retrospect, I've seen many times the scenes of new benches that I don't usually see in the past few months.
I was wondering if each store was doing a smart measure, but by browsing the website of this project, I finally solved the mystery.
In the next 10 years, the company is aiming to set up 10,000 benches in Tokyo, centering on Chuo-dori from Ginza to Ueno.

As of mid-September, the stickers on the bench installed in Tokyo Square Garden were removed, but it is true that the number of benches is steadily increasing in Chuo-ku.
For more information about the effects of benches on the city, visit the TOKYO BENCH PROJECT website.

Next, I would like to introduce this box-shaped one installed at Mizutanibashi Park.
The surrounding plants are growing, but if you don't, you can sit down, right?

I'm worried about this box-shaped thing, but in fact, it's a furnace stool!
It is usually a stool (a chair with no backrest), but it is an excellent one that turns into a furnace that can be cooked in the event of a disaster.♪
I usually watch the children playing in this park and the members of society heading to the computer under the blue sky, but if you have such disaster countermeasure equipment in the city, you can feel safe in case of emergency.

And lastly, I would like to introduce "[Excursion Series 14th] Forest! Benches and planters using thinned wood from Hinohara Village, which also focused on "Chuo-ku" found in Hinohara Village.
It's one of the world-friendly initiatives.
This is used longer than the above-mentioned benches and stools, so I think many people are familiar with it.

This time, we featured the bench of TOKYO BENCH PROJECT, the furnace stool of Mizutani Bridge Park, and benches and planters using thinned wood from Hinohara Village.
We reaffirmed that they are the protagonists behind the creation of a livable city, and that the city, people, and the earth-friendly initiatives are reflected in familiar places.

In addition to these, benches and stools filled with commitment are installed everywhere in Chuo-ku.
In addition to running and cycling, when taking a break outdoors during a walk or shopping, why not look at such a familiar presence?
