Shigeyo's Festival-Fukutoku Shrine-
September 9th was "Shiyo's Festival". It was handed down from China and was adopted in Japan as a noble royal palace event in the Heian period. It was one of the same five verses as March 3, May 5, and July 7, and the odd number was a lucky number, a Yin and Yang sun month. Among them, the largest (9) overlaps, so it is designated as "Shiyo no Festival", and events wishing for longevity and prosperity are held.
Shigeyo Festival of Fukutoku Shrine
On this day, I visited Fukutoku Shrine in Nihonbashimuro-cho and photographed the ritual. Chestnuts and eggplants were offered to the shrine along with sake and salt. In the lunar calendar, this time was the harvest time, and we celebrated by eating chestnut rice with richly grown chestnuts. There is also a legend saying, "If you eat eggplant on the 9th, it will not get a medium wind." In prayer for sound health, he offered eggplant this year.
Shinto ritual began with the sound of the drums. I was willing to offer Tamagushi, exorcism, felicitation, and ended with the sound of drums.
It was the first time I saw him so close that the air around me was purified, and felicitation seemed to enter my body.
Chrysanthemum Festival
Just as March 3 is the "peach festival", "juyo no festival" is also called "chrysanthemum festival" because it is the season when chrysanthemums bloom. It is believed that the scent of chrysanthemums has the power to dispel evil, and he celebrated by decorating chrysanthemums and drinking chrysanthemums (a liquor with chrysanthemum petals).
This year's Hanatemizu is a long-established store in Nihonbashi Motoishi-cho, Hanato's one-wheeled chrysanthemum and yellow are vivid.
Until now, "Shiyo's Festival", which I was not familiar with, was growing in myself. Thank you for the kindness of Fukutoku Shrine, I left the shrine with a refreshing feeling.
