Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
Last year, when the spread of COVID-19 was calm, I visited Nishi Honganji Temple (Ryukoku Yamamotoganji / World Heritage) in Kyoto.
There are a number of shrines in Chuo-ku that were recommended by Inari Shrine in Fushimi, Kyoto, but Motoyama of Tsukiji Honganji is related to Nishi Honganji Temple and Kyoto again.
This time, we will focus on Nishi Honganji Temple, which is nicknamed "Onishi-san", and I would like to introduce the common points and differences with Tsukiji Honganji from a tourist perspective!

The sign that I first saw when visiting Nishi Honganji Temple says, "The 16th of every month is Shinran Saint's Day," and various events are held on that day.

The Jodo Shinshu sect is the same as Tsukiji Honganji because Shinran saint is the founder.
On the 16th of every month, the telling of the anniversary of the death of Shinran Saints is held, and anyone can listen for free.

In addition, there was a guide to souvenirs distributed at Nishi Honganji Temple.
Unfortunately, I am no longer a student, but when I visited Ryutoraden, I was able to receive a flower-ha souvenir in a paper bag like a talisman.
(* According to the temple bulletin in the spring of 2022, we are preparing a new sign of worship that changes the design every season.)

On the other hand, Tsukiji Honganji also distributes souvenirs of Huaha.
This is known as the "Worship Memorial Card" and the design changes every month.

It's been a few years since I came to go to get a worship commemorative card, but every January is one kanji character.
In other months, messages according to social conditions and events of the month are written in Japanese and English.
If you collect it for one year, you will receive a souvenir tenugui and a coupon that can be used at the book center at the reception on the second floor of main hall.
Senior correspondent Ginzo is introduced every month about worship commemorative cards and souvenirs.

And when I walked around the premises of Nishi Honganji Temple, I saw sculptures that I was worried about.
That's this evil spirit that supports the water receiving.

Suddenly, I remembered the sculpture of a grotesque in a surprising place in Tsukiji Honganji.
Although no such sculptures were found at Nishi Honganji Temple, there are trees called "buried trees" in the porch and corridors of Amida Buddha Hall and Mieido, which are national treasures, to fill the knots and cracks.
The motifs of these trees vary from creatures such as elephants and whales, plants such as maples and gourds, as well as Mount Fuji and Heart!

It seems that the carpenters with the thought of "I would heal the worshipers."
I inadvertently forgot to take a picture, but in that you can enjoy sculptures and searching for buried trees like a treasure hunt, Tsukiji Honganji and Nishi Honganji Temple may be similar.

And you can see the wisteria of the temple crest in offertory box.
This is also the temple crest of Tsukiji Honganji Temple, and you can check it everywhere on the premises.

In the first place, the history of the descending Fujimon in the Honganji school dates back to the marriage of the 22nd head of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji school, the late Kozui Otani gatekeeper, and the late Kazuko Kujo. You.
The crest of the Kujo family that she brought during her marriage was this descent wisteria crest, which was used by Kagami Jojin as a temple crest at Nishi Honganji Temple.

This Kagami Jojin is actually acquainted with Dr. Chuta Ito, who designed the current main hall of Tsukiji Honganji.
Although the objectives were different, both traveled on the Silk Road, and the experience gained from it created the ancient Indian-style building of Tsukiji Honganji, which makes you feel the roots of Buddhism.
