"Ginza" Ningyocho, which couldn't become

The surrounding area of Kakigara-cho, including Suitengu Street, is located.

* Elements such as the completion of the armor bridge in 1872, the relocation of Suitengu in 1873, the establishment of the Tokyo Rice Grain Exchange in Kakigara-cho, and the opening of the streetcar on Ningyocho-dori are intertwined in a timely manner, and a new commercial area since the Meiji era It has developed rapidly.

If you look around the city from Suitengu Street 8, there are many restaurants that look like a downtown area. Mihara-do, Hatsune, Tamahide, etc. are still alive. Shops that symbolize the Meiji and Taisho eras were fashionable shops such as cosmetics wholesalers "Ando Izutsu-do" (elephant toothpaste), Nagase Shoten of Kao Corporation, and “Lion Lion” of Tomijiro Kobayashi Shoten. There were many. Elephant toothpaste has won the second prize at the 5th "Ciran Industrial Expo" along with diamonds.

The feature of Ningyo-cho, including Kakigara-cho and Suitengu-dori, was that it felt the novelty of the times while maintaining the traditional downtown scenery.

The photo shows the bustle of Ningyocho's year-end Fukuhikisho (1927 = 1927).

Which stretches, "Ginza" or "Ningyocho"?

Which stretches, "Ginza" or "Ningyocho"? "Ningyocho" that could not become "Ginza"

Former Keio University professor and born in Ginza Yasaburo Ikeda stated that "the neighborhood of Ningyocho was much more lively and more modern than Ginza." In 1913, "Cafe Paulista", which serves Brazilian coffee, opened at Horidomecho 1-chome, and after the earthquake, there were more pure coffee systems for coffee and music, as well as emerging cafes serving tea and rice crackers serving sake. Around 1935, more than 80 cafes appeared on the alleys on both sides across Ningyocho Street.

In 1908 (1908), the shopping district around Ningyocho formed the first union organization in Japan called "Shoseikai". Around this time, those who moved to Tokyo from all over the country to open a business in Tokyo and tried to raise their flag seemed to have chosen "Ginza" or "Ningyocho".

Why couldn't "Ningyocho" become "Ginza"? What is something in Ginza, not in Ningyocho? Do you have the following three?

① Railway between Yokohama and Shimbashi

② Settlement for Foreign Residents in Tsukiji

③ Seven industrial plants are installed on Ginza Street and two on Ningyo Street.

Kakigara-cho 2 (currently Ningyocho 1)

Ningyocho, which could not become a popular factory "Ginza" in Kakigaracho 2 (currently Ningyocho 1).

There is also a Minamitani store at the site of Kakigara Ginza. There should be a Minamitani management shop near here, but I couldn't find the photo within my research scope. It is said that Minamitani's recommendation factory was built in Kakigaracho 1 (currently Ningyocho 1) at the site of Ginza, so it is presumed that the recommendation factory was opened around Ningyocho-dori in the photo. It seems that he showed some prosperity and advanced to Ginza, but unfortunately he withdrew in a short period of time. There may have been a difference in the power of Ginza and Ningyocho here.

If Ningyocho took over Ginza's position, Togoshi Ginza and Atami Ginza might have become "Togoshi Ningyocho" and "Atami Ningyocho", right?
