Cherry blossoms are good

The 180th Anniversary Exhibition "Sukaya Kimono Store" at Mie Terrace to the Future

I was waiting for a chance to introduce the event of my favorite antenna shop Mie Terrace, which has decreased due to the influence of corona. ー1840 1840 The 180th anniversary exhibition "Sukaya Kimono Store", which was founded in 1840, received a Mie cheering party email from November 21-23.

I don't usually wear kimonos, but I love seeing people wearing kimonos and kimonos. Immediately after stepping into the gallery on the second floor with excitement, the kimono labeled "Miyamasugi Dyeing" jumped into my eyes.

From there, I had Mr. Yayo Inoue, a guide to the venue carefully, and finally exchanged business cards and found that my blog name cherry blossoms and good names were the same. What a coincidence? I felt a strange connection.

Miyamasugi dyeing refers to Sugiki, which is over 500 years old at the forest of Ise-jingu Shrine, and is said to be the phantom finest product in Japan. Since logging is not allowed, only cedars that have been decayed by natural disasters are given by God, who are rarely allowed to go to private markets. It seems to be a kimono that uses this rare Miyama cedar as a plant dye as a raw material for lower dyeing.

I feel the mystery that the flow of eternal time and the prayers of the people dwell as the soul in the sacred tree of Miyamasugi, bringing us joy, happiness and the power to live.

Sukaya kimono shop seems to have been selected as Mie Prefecture's "New Attractive Creation Project for Traditional Industries".

It's a great achievement. From the kimono, I was able to feel the power of Miyama cedar.

Mie was called Ise no Kuni, and it was a major production area of high-quality cotton suitable for a mild climate.

It is a delicate fabric that has been cultivated over 250 years since the Edo period.

Ise cotton, which is weakly twisted and easy to cut with starch glue and carefully raises it slowly, becomes moist and stronger when woven as a cloth. Because each thread is delicate, the more you wear it, the more you wear it, the more supple the texture.

Ise cotton is hard to wrinkle, and excels in heat retention and breathability.

However, Orimoto is only one Usui Oribu Co., Ltd. in Ichigoda, Tsu City, and Ise cotton is said to be rare. President Usui uses an automatic loom to rework the parts frequently, and strives to make woven fabrics with a focus on quality rather than efficiency.

The soft Ise cotton is dyed with the technique of "chusen" and is characterized by a gentle touch. Injection dyeing is not a mechanical dyeing, but a dyeing and weaving technique that performs the entire process manually by craftsmen. The name was given by the technique of putting a pattern on the dough, applying glue, and pouring dye.

It is characterized by the fact that it can express the unique taste of manual work, such as shades and blurs of colors, and it is finished in a symmetry that cannot be distinguished between the front and back. You can feel the value of one-piece item where you can enjoy a unique texture such as stings and swaying.

The more you use it, the better the texture, and it seems that it can be used for many years.

Sukaya kimono shop believes that while preserving tradition, it will lead to the tradition and development of Mie's local crafts, and produces it with a new perspective.

The driving force behind the active transmission of Sukaya Dye Shops was a desire to further enhance the essential value of kimono culture.

Mr. Haruji Morijiri's work was fascinated by the pale colors of handwritten and novel designs. In this way, young sensibilities need to strongly transmit the kimono culture to the future.

I hope that young craftsmen, who are interested in kimono culture, will demonstrate their wonderful talents and open up a new genre that incorporates classical techniques.

The fabric dyed with patterns and patterns from Ise Katagami (dyed paper) backed by craftsmanship with a history of more than 1,000 years, is filled with the warmth of craftsmen's hands.

It seems that Ise Katagami spread nationwide at once because the daimyo of the Edo period came to decide the small pattern of his clan in order to distinguish it from other clans, and since the pattern became used for samurai kimonos etc. .

Since it is a valuable traditional culture that requires skilled craftsmanship, it was designated as a national Intangible Cultural Property in 1952 and as a traditional craft tool by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1983. Even today, about 99% are produced in the Shiroko area of Suzuka City, but it is a very valuable technology that is feared to reduce the number of successors.

We recommend that you wear Ise cotton as a casual kimono next to yukata. It seems that the price is reasonable at about 50,000 yen, including the tailoring fee at the Sukaya kimono shop.
